This one is open to contention. The Codex says that _any_ model may be armed with a Sniper rifle. Well, the sergeant is one of them, despite there being no model to represent him. Solution, make your own. This allows you to create a scout squad that is armed exclusively with long range weaponry.
This model is probably at the easy end of the 'standard' difficulty level, but as it involved some pinning and filling I've rated it Standard.
What you will need;
Fortunately the preparation of this model is fairly simple. the chainsword arm simply needs to be removed. Carefully cut the arm off between the hand and the wristband (as indicated on the picture to the left in red). If you are a little uncertain cut through the hand, it's easier to file the hand down than than putty it up if you trim off too much. File the wrist flat at the end of the wristband, and drill a small hole for the pin.
The powercord that previously fed the chainsword can be filed down, or left where it is and painted up as a knife handle later on (as shown in the image blelow showing the fill area). If you are not a Dark Angels player, remove the icon hanging on his cape.
Simply file the wrist 'knob' flat and drill a small hole for the pin. Thats it! Advanced modellers might like to use some putty to model up a new more scout-like hand, but I didn't see the need. The rifle is different after all, who knows what kind of extra 'hardware' might be required to use this more advanced rifle.
Test fit the pin in into Namman's arm and the rifle in it's place. Try to get the rifle as vertical as possible. This may mean bending the pin. Don't worry about any gap between the rifle hand and the wrest of Naaman, we will be fixing that up later. Once you are happy with the way the model sits, glue the pin onto the wrist of Sergeant Naaman, and the Auspex (scanner) can then be glued in place on the opposite hand as normal. Once this is dry glue the rifle on the pin.
Once the superglue has dried, mix up a very small (READ: TINY!) amount of putty and model this int othe gap between the hand on the rifle and Naaman's wrist. Use the end of a scalpel or a cut match to smooth out the putty. The image to the left has the puttied area highlighted in green.
Thats it! You now have a Space Marine Scout Sergeant with a Sniper Rifle ready for painting. Your figure should look like the one below. I have coloured in green (as the rifle is already mostly red) the new pieces so you can clearly see where each piece has gone. Larger pictures and different angles of this model can be found in the gallery section.
