William Henry Gibson

My great great grandfather was born William Henry Gibson in Althorne, Essex in 1820.

He led a very checkered life & was Transported for Life to Van Diemans Land in 1849

- leaving his wife and four children in England.

He remarried his partner of 24 years in 1878 when their youngest child was 9 years old. He was a bigamist, a forger, a policeman and a doctor and created a fictional persona with a new name for his life in the colonies.
