My Wildey family can only be traced to Benjamin Wildey born in Bloomsbury, London in 1822. He was a carpenter. His was convicted several times for larceny & in 1847 was transported to Van Diemans land for 10 years. He married in 1851 and was granted a Ticket of Leave in 1856. In 1861 he left Tasmania and arrived in Otago, New Zealand on "the Dart" in 1862 where he met and married Catherine Waon Munro in 1863. They had nine children. Their eldest son was my great, great grandfather.
