William Nicholls was my great grandfather and he was the second child (of eleven) born to William Towen Nicholas & Elizabeth Ann Murton after they arrived in Australia. The family name became Nicholls after a scandal involving Elizabeth Ann Murton and her sister in Geelong in 1866
