Our Family Tree

I began researching our family some 30 years ago. At about this time my Uncle Jack was working with Mum on our genealogy and they were accessing microfiche records from Family History Centres in Melbourne, Victoria.

So a start was made. By the early 1990’s I came across some software that allowed you to keep a record of your family tree on your computer. This was the Corel Family Tree Suite.

In 2007, I went back to my research, this time using the Family Tree software from Legacy, which was much more flexible. At around this time I began using the Internet to search for records and quickly found out that there is little information that is available for “free”.

I then began an ongoing subscription to three main sites:

Ancestry UK

the Genealogist

FindMyPast

In conjunction with FamilySearch, the International Genealogy Index made available by the Church of the Latter Day Saints, these sites have formed the basis of my research.

Our Family Tree has over 13,097 people in it now, with more than 476 photographs & sits on the Ancestry UK website. My family have all been invited to share it and to contribute to it.

I hope you enjoy the results!

In book form we can trace the Nicholls or Nicholas line back to 1530. There are two hard copies available and if you would like one - just let me know. Alternatively you can download the PDF copy. Just be aware that it is over 50Mb and will take some time.
