The museum is situated at 50
Main Street Ulverstone on the North West Coast of Tasmania.
We house an extensive
collection of records, photographs and memorabilia pertaining to the whole
Central Coast District.
Our aims are to record and
preserve as much information, both written, photographic and oral,
pertaining to the district, and present it in a form which is usable by the
general public and serious researches alike. It is here
for the benefit of all - particularly future
generations.
.
Through this web site we
intend to provide a service where-by researches can tap into some of our
records. This site will continually change - hopefully enlarged each time,
providing further information'
With continued
support from the Central Coast Council, the museum building has been
substantially up-graded with work being carried out on a continual basis. It
is envisaged that in the near future our library and research facilities
will be substantially increased, as our present facility has outgrown it's
practical use.
The interior of the museum consists of constructed
facsimile shop facades - all work being done by the Committee and a few
volunteers. This has enabled us to display numerous artifacts & memorabilia
pertaining to the area's development. Where possible, authentic 19th & early
20th Century building materials have been used in keeping with a bygone era.
