Simulations
 |
Sometimes when you are wanting to illustrate a process or to compose a
test or exam question it would be handy to have a way of generating a set
of numbers (observations) which conform to the distribution of a specific
random variable. This apLet is designed to simulate data sets for various
common random variables. |
 |
The user can generate data on any of the eight common r.v.'s shown in
the screen shots left. Most of the simulations are fairly quick but the
Binomial and Pascal simulations are a little slow. Time estimates are
given for these two before the simulation process begins. Due to the
memory limitations on the calculator, only a limited number of
observations can be stored. |

Sine Define
| This aplet visually illustrates the production of graphs for sine,
cosine and tangent using the Unit Circle. The graph is gradually traced
out on the axes provided, while the angle progressively moves around the
circumference of the Unit Circle. |
  |
| This aplet comes with documentation which includes an investigation for
students studying advanced Trigonometry. This investigation called
"Squine and Cosquine" examines the graphical results of defining
sine, cosine and tangent on a Unit Square rather than on a Unit Circle. |
  |
| It is assumed that the student is already familiar with
radian measure. A validation test is included with the documentation. |
