DAY IN THE LIFE OF .... - NOVEMBER 2002

 Return to home

Taminick 2002 was a multi-period event for re-enactors. A combination of skill at arms and period camping competitions as well as an opportunity to have a great time. Several of us took the opportunity to stay on for a few days to check out the local vineyards. The 95th won the drill competition and Rfn Paul and Pvt (Rfn) Peter won the Phil Hill shooting competition (Peter was having a day out as the 73rd soldier but was using a Baker rifle in the competition).

This year's event included a day with reporters from a Melbourne Herald-Sun newspaper - they have some additional photos on their site (search on Taminick).

The North Eastern Muzzleloaders (NEML) were the hosts for another successful weekend.

The Weekend

Here we go again - marching on for morning parade - the children are keen.
Parade getting organised - smaller turn-out than usual as the weekend did not coincide with a public holiday in NSW

Rfn David and Rob (director's chair - hmmm)
Rfn John and Catherine

Rachel, Tom and Adrian - and those chairs again
Several of us stayed on for a few days - John, Greg (73rd) and Andrew.
As usual, Taminick's drill competition was on - we did some practice in the morning in the sun - and the actual competition in the rain.
Gearing up - one of us drying a flintlock (again!).
Waiting. If we look cold and wet, that's because it was cold and wet
Drill competition - smoke and fire.
Winners are grinners
