Margaret River
Tree Top Walk - Albany Tour 2006 - 2007An eco tour that features clear, crisp air, fertile landscapes of the southern forest region that produce and nurtures the imposing forests of Karri, Marri and Tingle trees. The magnificent land scapes are a blend of gentle sloping vineyard hillsides, fertile orchards, majestic and ancient forests and a coastline that has exhilarating views across the vast Southern Ocean.
Day One:- Drive from Perth to Walpole traveling through part of the states most scenic agriculture land and forest.
Walpole is surrounded entirely by national parks and reserves and offers one of the most popular eco attractions in Western Australia, the remarkable Valley of the Giants Tree Top Walk and Ancient Empire. Enjoy delicious fresh sandwiches at Walpole. From Walpole to the Tree Top Walk explore the forest on Hilltop Road and
wander the magical 800 metre trail to the Giant Red Tingle Tree between the soaring karri trees and the giant-girthed tingles, rising 70 metres. Stop at the Hilltop lookout for wonderful views of the Frankland River, Nornalup Inlet and the Southern Ocean.
The drive into the Tree Top Walk from the highway is spectacular. Karri and red tingle trees loom out of the forest an indication of what is to come at the Tree Top Walk and the Ancient Empire. Stroll
among the upper branches of giant tingle and karri trees for a "birds eye view" of natures giants. This is a fun and exhilarating experience. Nearby under the Tree Top Walk is a winding boardwalk that takes you through a grove of veteran Red Tingle trees Eucalyptus jacksonii called the Ancient Empire. You can walk through the hollowed out butt of one tree.
After our visit at the Tree Top Walk we will continue on the Valley of the Giants Road
to Bow Bridge and tour south to William Bay. The spectacular Southern coast has to be seen to be believed.
