The illustration on the left was created with Adobe Photoshop. Five different images were scanned and combined using layer masking. The text was placed in next, using layer masking again, with a combination of soft edges, and various lighting filters. The subject matter is 'Ace' from Doctor Who, a television show which I have been a fan of for quite some time. The illustration on the right was done with fineliner. It is the illustration which the print book is based upon. The illustration was modelled on a photograph, and was an exercise in abstraction.
