FREEDOM
Most apparent to us, are the physical restrictions which bind us. It is the emotional and spiritual bonds we are not so aware of. My own experience, as a disabled person from birth, has made me aware of many things which have bound me at different periods during my lifetime. I am also aware of the ways in which my FREEDOM in most physical things has been gained. For many years I was bound to ask others for help in every-day tasks - tying my shoelaces; cutting-up the food on my plate; writing down ‘phone messages. With a little help from my friends and some ingenuity I have gained my FREEDOM and independence. From my Step-Father I learned to make two turns with the lace ends when starting a bow (they then hold firm and do not slip), enabling me to tie a double bow with my one good hand. My former wife gave me a “Nelson Knife” which enables me to cut-up my own food. The advent of the “Hands Free” telephone receiver enables me to write down my own messages. These are instances of physical FREEDOM which are very apparent and can be quantified.
The bonds which restrict us emotionally are not so readily perceived. Fears bind us emotionally. The fear of rejection holding us back from making friends or meeting new acquaintances. The fear of open spaces, which keeps us confined to a very small and tight world of maybe just four walls. The fear of confined spaces which can hamper us in many subtle ways - having to walk up stairs because the lift is too confining; not able to experience the beauty of underwater seascapes or the magic of Stalagmites and Stalactites in underground caves, because of the fear of going underground. These emotional bonds can be loosened and discarded with the help of therapies of various kinds. When a person is emotionally unfettered it is not always apparent. Often that person is the only one aware of the FREEDOM.
Spiritual FREEDOM is attained by LOVE. LOVE of ourself. The biggest shackle which fetters us Spiritually is the shackle of FEAR. FEAR of being our own person, following our own inner guidance and concerning ourselves over “What will people think”. Once we achieve complete and total LOVE for ourselves then we are able to commit total and unconditional LOVE to everything and everyone on Earth and in the Universe. In this way we attain Spiritual FREEDOM. Our whole persona takes on a layer of Teflon-like energy whereby no smidgen of Fear or negativity is able to reach us. It finds nothing to hold onto so it slides off into the eternal void never to approach us again. The FREEDOM gained by believing and listening to our inner self is available to all. It only needs trust from us in order to blossom and magnify, showing us off as examples of FREEDOM to all those around us who are bound by negativity and Fear. By affirming each and every day “I am God, God is me” “I Love God, God Loves me” and living these affirmations 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, we will have and hold complete Spiritual FREEDOM. We become beacons of light, shining out FREEDOM as examples to those who desire to free themselves from the bondage of ancient thinking, which advocates Fear of retribution through defying dogma and ritual.
While bound to this physical environment, the greatest FREEDOM attainable prior to our ascension to higher planes, is by living in the “Now”; trusting guidance from our Higher/Divine Self; cultivating “Inner Stillness”; just “Being” at one with our “I AM”. It is the FREEDOM gained by Loving who and what we are without condition. This enables us to radiate Unconditional LOVE in order to fill the vacuum created by mankind’s disharmony and the physical and emotional bonds of Fear which restrict many of Earth’s inhabitants today.
