GLADIATOR MAINTENANCE - 04 Gladiator (05, Sonic, 06, 07)

Recommended Frequency: approximately every 8,000 pressurized cycles.

Instructions:

Step #1: Disconnect the macroline connected to the HPR. To do this, pull the collar closest to the macroline towards the rest of the fitting while pulling the macroline out.

Step #2: Unscrew the HPR from the Cyborg body by screwing it counter-clockwise.

Step #3: Remove the bottom-works from the HPR by screwing it counter-clockwise.

Step #4: Using your Cyborg’s macroline, a pen, or other non-metal object, push the HPR’s internals out.

Step #5: Wrap a piece of paper towel around your finger and use it to clean the inside of the HPR housing.

Step #6: Using a piece of paper towel, clean all dirt and old lube from the HPR internals -- the piston, shims, and piston bottom.

View the image to the left for further clarification.

Step #7: Lube the o-ring on the HPR piston. About half a pea size amount. (The picture to the left does NOT represent adequate lubing.)

Step #8: Replace the shims onto the piston. You will notice the shims have a convex and concave side. Just remember the first shim always has the concave side facing down, and it alternates from there. The correct pattern is )()()()(.

Step #9: Lightly "paint" the remaining exposed bit of the piston with lube. I use a q-tip with the cotton cut off to do this.

Step #10: Slide the piston bottom back onto the piston -- the part with the o-rings goes on first, then the blank silver bit. Now lube the piston bottom o-ring with about half a pea size amount; wipe off any excess.

Step #11: Put a small amount of lube on the tip of your finger and use it to apply a thin film of lube to the inside of the HPR housing.

Slide the completed piston package back into the HPR housing; press it gently past the threads -- it will get to a point where you can't push it in any futher. Screw the bottomworks back on. The piston may still rattle but this will stop once your marker is pressurized. Screw the HPR back into your marker. Reattach the macroline by pulling the collar down on the elbow fitting, pressing the macroline in firmly, and then pulling the collar upwards to secure it. This concludes HPR maintenance.

Apply a small amount of lube to the bottom work's threads, to prevent difficulties removing it in the future. You may also want to do this to the threads at the top of the HPR.
