The Stolen Purse
I overheard a woman on her phone the other day asking to have her credit cards cancelled. Someone stole her purse right out of her handbag, apparently.
Stolen. Uh-huh.
It is human instinct to blame someone - anyone - other than yourself. The purse didn't fall out. It wasn't left behind. Oh, no. It was stolen. Funny how she wasn't calling the police, though...
It's those immigrants taking all our jobs! It's a conspiracy! Look what you made me do! You brought this on yourself. It's not my fault! The devil made me do it!*
Enough.
Always remember that when you hit your thumb, your first instinct is to swear at the hammer.
