Eva Afeaki
Position: Guard
Height: 183 / 6'0"
From: NSW
What the AIS said:
- "Natural talent and flare for the game"
- "Athletic style of play"
One of the tallest guards in the league, Eva Afeaki has demonstrated her versatility, slotting in at different positions when necessary. With her height, she is able to take smaller guards down into the block to score or create something for her teammates. Despite having a poor season in terms of shooting percentage, she had an impressive string of games mid-season, increasing her offensive production and grabbing three double doubles. As one of the better rebounding guards in the league, add in her ability to dish out assists and score a few points, Afeaki has the potential to close in on a triple double if she continues on her current improvement trends.
In her debut season, she set a career high of 7 points in a game. As a starter in her second season, she has only registered numbers below that mark in three games. Afeaki's new career high of 19 came against Bulleen on Nov 8, 2003 in a 1 point thriller. She equaled that standard in her final game with the AIS on Feb 1, 2004.

Gabrielle Richards
Position: Centre
Height: 186 / 6'1"
From: VIC
What the AIS said:
- "Blue-collar work ethic"
- "A strong physical inside presence"
The captain and leader of the team, Gabrielle Richards has been solid for the AIS all season. Although under-sized as a centre, her strength has allowed her to pull down rebounds and make herself a target in the post. With Hollie Grima leaving last season, Richards picked up the slack and more than doubled her productivity.
In her rookie season, she had highs of 20 points and 10 rebounds. This season she has equalled or surpassed those records - 4 times in points (including a new career high of 28 on Oct 11, 2003 against Townsville) and 7 times in rebounds.
Whilst predominantly spending most of her time in the post, Richards has the ability to step out and hit the occasional 3-pointer. Being selective in her long range shots, she has been able to maintain a 40% average from beyond the arc this season.
Just about every team, if not all, in the league need another post player and there will be stiff competition to sign her.

Hanna Zavecz
Position: Guard
Height: 180 / 5'11"
From: VIC
What the AIS said:
- "A highly respected junior from Victoria Country"
- "A definite player to watch in the future."
Just about every court announcer/commentator across the country has their own way of pronouncing Hanna's last name (I'm told it's actually pronounced 'Zav-ex') but nonetheless, she's an exciting player. At 180cm, she has size for a shooting guard and is active on defence. She has hops, speed, and a great knack for shot blocking and pinching loose balls. Her previous career high in points was 7 and this year she has only been below that mark in 3 games with a career high of 17 against Bulleen on November 8, 2003. She's increased her scoring average by 7 per game despite having a rough shooting season.
Missing 4 games with a right shoulder injury and having it taped for every game, it might take a bit more time for Zavecz to find a consistant shot. However she has shown she is capable of hitting her shots when given time and has proven to be invaluable for this AIS team - the AIS failing to win a game without her.

Comments: Pawlowski played well against Adelaide - hit a few jumpshots in her home town. Like most of the team, she's been hit by injury.

Comments: Warren's done rather well considering her limited minutes and late arrival at the AIS. She's a selective shooter - takes what she's given and converts a high percentage from the field.
