At the top of the class is the 2003/04 Rookie of the Year. The handy little point guard improved her game in her second season, as seen in the stats below. Even though the AIS were only on the tele for a couple of games in the last two seasons, her performances were enough to receive praise from Michele Timms.
Despite the interesting release on her shots, all of her shooting stats have risen convincingly since her rookie season and had three solid performances to end her AIS career, including a career high 21 pts against Perth.
Undoubtedly many WNBL clubs would be keen to sign up her services, however a few US colleges may also be interested, having produced consistent numbers during the '04 US tour. Wherever she ends up, be sure to keep an eye on the Little General.

Tall, athletic, and talented - she's almost a dead-ringer for Ruth Riley when she has the headband on. The potential is there, she just needs to find a way to stay healthy. During her first season at the AIS she could only play 9 of the 21 games, but in those 9 she demonstrated glimpses of her talent - the most notable being her performance of 20 pts, 9 rebs and 75% field shooting against Bulleen.
She's an exciting player and there's always that slight anticipation of her slamming one home. We haven't seen a dunk in the WNBL yet. Perhaps if her legs stay strong we'll see her get up for one!

Rebecca Duke
Position: Guard/Forward
DOB: April 22 1987
Height: 183cm / 6'0"
From: WA
Fourth in 03/04 Rookie of the Year voting, Dukey's known more for her defensive prowess. She's racked up solid stats all round - able to score, rebound, block shots and dish out assists. A career high 10 assists and 10 pts against Perth saw her achieve her first WNBL double double in her second last AIS game.
A strong and physical defender, Perth would probably be hoping she heads back West after graduation. She's a more than handy player to have around so no doubt there'll be competition for her signature.
She's also in a rare league. She doubled her effiency rate in her second season and failed to miss a single game. A rarity for a player, parituclarly at the 'tute, to play two complete seasons.

Jenna O'Hea

Third in 03/04 Rookie of the Year voting, versatility is a feature of her game. In the WNBL she could play as a tall guard, small power forward, but is perhaps best as a wing. Her rookie season numbers were already impressive and she continued to develop her skills in her second year. The most notable improvement being the dramatic increase in free throw percentage. In WNBL games, she has not missed a single free throw since December 19, 2004. She's been a perfect 25/25 in her last seven games for the AIS.

Comments: The final newsletter from the Youth Olympics mentioned Leah's planning on returning to the AIS in 2006 after going back to SA to finish yr 12. One hopes that's accurate. She's done a great job bench warming for the AIS this season, but when given court time, as seen at the AYOF, she's dynamite. Excellent hops for her size and once she gets on a roll, the numbers pile up in no time. Her WNBL numbers aren't indicative of what she's capable of.
