A message from the creator of this website:

Hi there!

Welcome to LaurenJackson.org, a website designed by a fan, for the fans. Although this is an unofficial site, I hope to bring you the latest basketball and LJ news as soon as it happens.

We love our champions, even moreso when they're humble and down-to-earth. To have a 19-yr old leave such an impression on the international scene on the grandest of sporting stages is an achievement worthy of marvel. Therefore, there was little doubt Lauren Jackson would be the subject of my site. Potential is often nothing more than unacheived expectations, but Lauren's case is different. It is an experience in itself to witness her potential being fulfilled and pushed to even higher standards. Lauren is a once in a lifetime player, so through this little site, I hope to bring her some much deserved recognition.

This site was in the making straight after the Sydney 2000 Olympics. With ample inspiration after the Opals' first silver medal in Olympic competition, I felt a need to pay tribute to the Aussies, in particular one Lauren Jackson. So as a year-8 student, and with my extremely limited knowledge of computers, websites, and the internet in general, I naively sat down and began creating this website - just a little something to keep me busy during school holidays.

Back in those glorious days of free domain names, LaurenJackson.org was born on October 22, 2000. In its humble beginnings there were only a handful of regular visitors to the site but as Lauren's profile expanded, the traffic increased.
To those of you who have been coming back since the site's inauguration, many thanks for roughing it out in the early days. Here's hoping you and all the new visitors keep coming back!

Before Lauren was drafted into the WNBA, most of the visitors here were Australian. With Lauren's growing international fame, people from all around the globe have landed on the LJorg doorstep. Not many of us can lead the globe-trotting lifestyle of a professional athlete, but thanks to the internet, together we can cringe at their defeats, savour their victories, and whine at the refs from all corners of the world.

So have a look around, enjoy the site and make your voice heard in the forum.

All the best,

Misch :)
