About the Hospital
The KEMH campus, the State's
only tertiary maternity and gynaecological hospital, treated its first patients
in 1916. More than 4500 births take
place at KEMH every year and it is WA's major referral centre for high-risk
pregnancies. The Hospital has a
state-of-the-art 100 bed Special Care Nursery, designed to care for premature
and sick infants. KEMH also cares
for approximately 5000 women with gynaecological problems each year - from
urological and cancer related problems to sexually transmitted diseases and
reproductive disorders.
Where are we?Street Address: Postal Address: As above Switchboard: 9340 2222 Online: http://www.wchs.health.wa.gov.au/ Getting ThereThe closest railway stations are Daglish (5 minutes walk) and Subiaco (10 minutes walk). Bus services to the hospital are fairly limited. Most students drive to KEMH. Parking around the immediate vicinity of the hospital is free, however it is regulated by the Subiaco City Council. Students and the University Department do not recommend testing the council on this point, as they are skilled at issuing tickets. If you are in the hospital afterhours, park in this area though, as it is free and unregulated overnight. The best place to park is to the west of the Fremantle Railway Line, on Stubbs Tce and the streets that run off it. There is no time limit on most parts of the road here (check the signs!) and there is a controlled pedestrian crossing of the railway line. Cycle access to KEMH is very good. Get onto the cycle path that runs along the Fremantle Railway Line. The few students who ride currently place their bikes in the Students Room on the 2nd floor. |
