Darwin Botanic Gardens Book

Darwin Botanic Gardens

Friends of the Darwin Botanic Gardens Inc, Zip Print, NT, June 2000, $10

The front and back covers displayed here are just a taste of some of the very beautiful photographs contained in this booklet. It has been lovingly produced by Friends for the enjoyment of both visitors and locals. It contains a brief history, citing the effects events such as the war and cyclone Tracy had on the gardens.

The booklet describes the palms, cycads, trees, orchids and fungi in separate sections.

It also describes the rainforest, the shade garden, the demonstration garden, community use of the gardens and the creatures that live there. The species list includes over 65 birds, 24 lizards, 40 frogs, 14 snakes and 9 mammals.

This is clearly a must have for all those associated with the gardens, not just for the visitor. It so beautifully represents the gardens it’s a souvenir item or a present – don’t forget those envious gardening relatives from elsewhere that would love to walk through the garden on Xmas day, but couldn’t make it. They can be there if you’ve sent them a gift wrapped copy!

The book can be purchased from the gardens office as you walk in from the Geranium St entrance or by phoning Peta on 89811958.

ONLY $10.
