April 38th:
(We are a bit late, but we did promise an April update)
14 months - mid-December
Véronique proofing the contents of these pages

Hello and welcome back!

We are very happy to have new pictures for you; and some recent ones too! We would also like to bring your attention to our new address in this virtual world. Our front door is now at http://members.iinet.net.au/~columbus/twins/. You may want to update your bookmarks.
14 months - mid-December
Cordelia making some editorial changes

The news in this section covers events in the period from December 1999 to April 2000, not necessarily in chronological order.

Christmas 1999
We had our first Christmas where we were aware that something special was going on; we were a bit too young last year. Even if Christmas was months ago, we insist on telling you about it. Our Christmas tree was very pretty (even if Mommy can't get over the fact that it wasn't real and it wasn't green!) and it was full of ornaments.

Days shy of one year old, with our Daddy
There was also a very interesting wreath with little reindeers in it. We both insisted Daddy pick us up, every night, and tell us all about all of the reindeers and about each and every decoration on the tree. We loved looking at everything over and over and over. Our Daddy is very patient! When the time came to take down the tree we helped by putting everything in the box for next year, even our own regular toys and our sippy cups!!! Cordelia, who has a very strong penchant for putting things away, was very happy that night.

Summer's Over
We had a very fun summer (once again, the first which we were old enough to really appreciate), playing in the pool a lot and running around in the heat. It would seem that we don't mind the heat as much as the grown-ups do. That's a good thing because it got really hot some days! The weather here is strange.
17 months old - March
Cordelia in the lovely yellow hat
December 1999 was the hottest on record and January 2000 was the wettest January in many, many decades. February didn't seem to be as hot as last year. The weather doesn't make much sense to us anyway but the adults seemed a bit perplexed given the aforementioned facts.

Food
Mom has been making fun food for us, although we have now entered a phase where we eat less (ya know, that 18 months-ish phase, just before the Terrible Two's)! She tries very hard to make mealtime interesting. She's added a few new ideas to our baby recipes section. We keep her busy but she always finds the time to add a new one, here and there, once she's tested it on us, of course!

Our first BBQ
She even managed to find the time to make a non-baby recipes section. She did that partially because she's lousy at backing up her computer stuff and doesn't want to lose her recipes again (her notebook/laptop got stolen before Christmas!). We like some of that adult stuff, sometimes.
October 1999 - thanks to Tessa for the BBQ pictures
Picking up after the grown ups
We have started to demonstrate different preferences for foods. Cordelia loves cheese but Véronique could live without it (unless it's ricotta or cottage); she much prefers kernels of corn, frozen or cooked, and Cordelia, on the other hand, insists on putting those back in her parents' plates when offered some. Although, Cordelia has recently been seen gobbling down frozen corn kernels, green peas and rumour has it that she also ate few bits of frozen carrots and parsnips!

Our Daddy and onomatopoeias (February)
We
Mid-March - 17 Months
Playing with our toys
have a lot of fun when we play with Daddy. Dad loves reading us stories. We like it when he makes the sounds that accompany the stories. He's really good at making funny sounds and we both love trying to imitate him. Cordelia likes making a drinking sound such as: "glug, glug, glug, aaaahhhhh", it is very entertaining to see her grab some container and pretend to drink it, with sound effects! Cordelia is an expert at meowing sounds too; she does a lovely "Meeeeeeeeeeow" at anything that remotely looks like a cat. Véronique's favourite sound is "Mium mium mium". She also loves to try dog sounds; she cracks up every time Daddy makes his crazy dog impersonation by yapping, growling and panting. Véronique tries to repeat all of them but she finds panting, with her little tongue sticking out, the funniest. She will let out a little "arf" every now and then.

We both can identify the main body parts. We especially still like poking at eyes *ouch*, noses, mouths and teeth. We're starting to try to talk, saying things like "dooh'" for door and "ey'" for eye, "tea" for teeth and "ea'" for ear. Véronique can say "baby" and identified her first picture of a baby, by saying "bah-bee" at the end of January, it made our parents all proud. We've said other words, here and there, but some seem to stick in our memory better. We do love pictures of babies, especially the ones of our Canadian cousin Samuel which Mom puts on the fridge for us.

Dancing and singing with the people inside the television
17 Months
Véronique dancing

We still watch the Teletubbies but are starting to find Playschool interesting every now and then but ... we discovered The Wiggles, and we love them! You see, they sing really fun songs that we can dance to or move along with, songs pointing at body parts, songs about food, songs about animals too! We don't know all the movements but we know some, and always impress our parents when we do them, so we show off whenever we can; we're really good at that. We both love dancing. Véronique likes singing and she sings along to the Playschool theme almost every time it's on.

Did someone say mischief?
Véronique likes to climb everywhere, on every chair she can find. Cordelia likes running along, on the sofa.
Mid-January - 15 Months
Cordelia and her improvised hat!
She is so tall she can no longer be put in her playpen when Mom or Dad need her to stay out of trouble. They haven't let her escape yet but they know she is capable of it! We love playing outside, as you can see in the picture ... Véronique adores playing in the dirt.
February - 16 Months
Véronique helping Daddy with the sweeping
We're babies hence, we love dirt! We also love chewing on our colouring pencils, even though we only do it when Mom and Dad's backs are turned; we've gotten really quick at doing things when they are not looking! We also like drawing with these pencils, nothing spectacular yet, we're sure Dad will scan anything worth scanning! Cordelia actually prefers it when Mom or Dad draws something, then she obliterates it with her pencil. It's a beginning to colouring-in and not worrying about the lines! he! he!

We love watching Dad's screen
17 months old - March
Véronique's turn to wear the yellow hat
when he puts his special screensaver on. It's a slide show he made with one of his graphic programs and it features cute music and pictures of us, and other babies in the family. We feel like we're almost three years old when we sit on his chair and look at his computer screen! One day, Cordelia got so excited that she reached over and pressed the little red button on the front of Daddy's computer... the screen went black, until Daddy turned the computer on again! It was the reset button!!!
March 99
Cordelia
on-the-go
She is watched very closely now. Véronique pulled a very similar trick on Mommy's computer with the on/off switch. I guess it's fair to say we have had our computer initiations now! he!he!he! We cannot wait to each have one of our own. Mom and Dad are upgrading soon which is just as well, because we have our eyes on their toys!!!

We hope to bring you more news soon, as these were written back in March. Lots of new stuff to tell but... one thing at a time!

Well, time to wiggle out of here.
See you soon!

Véronique & Cordelia
