Latest update, August 7:
Bright and early, 7½ months
Cordelia
in the crib

It was a year ago, August 3 to 5, that Mom set sail towards here! On the topic of August milestones: we are going to be 10 months old on Friday the 13! Mom and Dad will celebrate their first wedding anniversary and it is only one year to go until Mom is officially an Australian Resident. Not to mention the birthdays of Cori and Barb also happening this month.

Daddy is learning how to properly scan pictures, he spent hours looking up stuff on the internet and doing tests (it's more complex than we are led to believe) so we are showing you new "improved" pictures now (well, the best he can do with the originals!).

are both teething, Cordelia already has three teeth (as of August 7) that are showing, she looks a bit funny. Mom is looking for the perfect recipe for teething biscuits. The store bought ones are good but she likes experimenting and baking. We'll probably have all our baby teeth before she gets the perfect biscuit, but in the meantime if you have such a recipe you can email it to her by clicking here. She does keep herself busy making us homemade baby food. One interesting thing she found out is that a Tablespoon is not always a Tablespoon. How fascinating! All we really want to do with spoons, be they dessertspoons, teaspoons, tablespoons or wooden spoons is gnaw on them or bang on pots, tables, floors or anything that makes noise.

This was a chart of our baby teeth. It is now here. You can also see our progress via a teething table.
Sorry, we had to move the map
We know it's a bit much details for some people but Mommy is learning new web page stuff so she is showing off a bit. She hopes to make money designing pages when she starts having enough time to work again. She already did a site for her friend Cori.

The last time we were weighed was on July 15 and the results were: Cordelia 19 lbs 15½ oz (that's ½ oz under 20 lbs) and Véronique 19 lbs 5 oz. We won't be weighed again until our first birthday, when we are due for a check-up.

June and July were also busy months for both of us: crawling, trying to touch and explore anything and everything, learning how to interact with our parents, babbling, reacting to various sounds like crying when we hear the vacuum cleaner but rushing to the television when certain themes or ads come on.

Here's that camera!!!
We seem to already have a sense of humour, we know when we're being teased and giggle lots when we're being tickled or when one of our parents gets on the floor on all fours to race with us. We are still very active and don't plan to slow down anytime soon! Mom and Dad think that we are much more fun now then when we were just babies, probably because they get a teeny bit more time to breathe.

We are now quite professional at crawling, and standing up holding on to: tables, chairs, our parents pants, sofas, Dad's speakers and VCR / TV shelf, etc.; we are even starting to try standing on our own. We both surprised our parents the last week of July by standing up for a few seconds not holding onto anything. Mom and Dad held their breath, staring at us, ready to rescue us in case of a fall, but quite surprised and very proud! Cordelia is already starting to climb on things if she thinks she can hoist a leg up a bit. Mom feels it's a very good thing we don't have stairs in the house! It seems Mom and Dad are rearranging a lot of the furniture and various things like speaker wires.
Don't we look pretty in our pink dresses!

Maybe it's because we love playing with some of the wires, NOT the electric ones, they don't let us near those, we only get to pull the speaker wires.

We have an extended repertoire of syllables these days. Mom is still Maa-ma-ma and Dad Daa-da-da but so are a lot of other things. There are also, amongst others, Baa-ba-ba's, Khaa-kha-kha's, Paa-pa-pa's, Doooh's and Aaaaaah's and, depending on how we feel, they are spoken louder or softer.

One of Véronique's new tricks, involving her ability to speak, is to speak with her mouth full ... of water! Right after she has taken a big gulp of water, she likes to open her mouth, saying Maa, maa, maa slowly, letting water drip down her chin a bit at a time!

Good Morning!
Thankfully there are such things as plastic bibs. Mom tries to not let Véronique get too wet when she does let her indulge but we know she has secret giggles watching Véronique make a slight mess. Cordelia's trick is to do raspberries, with or without food in her mouth. Cordelia also does a quite convincing Houdini impersonation from her high chair. She has managed to wriggle out of her safety belt once or twice, despite the watchful parental eyes! Of course neither of us is always that bad, we're just letting you know a few of the cute things we do.

Well, time for us to go and explore the world a bit more.
