February 6 :

We're 16 now! 16 weeks that is. Véronique has been singing a lot in the past couple of weeks. She goes on and on, but as soon as Mom starts the tape recorder to get a sound bite to put on this web site, she shies away; quite reminiscent of Warner Brother's Michigan J. Frog! Véronique also has been making progress in the

crawling department; there are still a few improvements to be made before she can enter a baby-marathon but she's getting there. Cordelia practices her vocal cords too, but she seems to have adopted a higher pitch at the moment, thankfully it is not always the case. She has discovered her feet and grabs on to them whenever she can - even when she's asleep - she even manages to put her foot in her mouth :-) She still wants to walk, showing off her leg muscles by lifting herself up whenever she can grab onto someone's hands. That's it, that's all, straight to the real thing, unfortunately for her she's going to have to go the same route millions of babies have gone through before, wearing off her knees. No one said it was easy being a baby!

A few people have inquired as to our birth weights and heights, we were pretty big for twins as you can attest: Véronique was 6 lbs 5 oz, measuring 18 1/2 in. and Cordelia was 7 lbs 11 oz and 19 1/4 in. We think Véronique is now about 23 inches and Cordelia about 24 inches but we still wriggle too much for Mom to be able to measure

us properly! Last time we were weighed we clicked in at 9 lbs 12 oz for Véronique and 10 lbs 7 oz for Cordelia, that was on January 7. We're getting weighed again in about a week.

We meant to tell you that we had a good First Christmas, we finally took down the Christmas tree on January 30, we could have kept it up all year though, those lights are very pretty. We promised you more photos, so we added our very first photo, taken about an hour after our birth; no wonder Mom (holding Cordelia) and Dad (holding Véronique) look a wee bit tired! More photos will follow, we just have to give our folks a break so they can scan some.

We want to wish Mommy's friend Cori, good luck with her new life. She lost her job last week due to a merger, but we reckon it's a chance for her to do something else. She wants to be a road manager or a band manager, so we'll be looking forward to loads of postcards.

February 11:

We've hit the 5 kg mark!
On February 8 the score was: Véronique 11 lbs 2 oz (5,040 kg) and Cordelia 11 lbs 7 oz (5,160 kg). You can see that we are doing very well, we will be graduating to a bigger size of diapers (nappies for the Aussies). We're still keeping our parents really busy so they don't have the time to give you more news today.

Cori and Barbara
is a photo of Mom's friends Barbara and Cori when they drove her to the airport last year, when she came to Australia for the first time. They were smiling though we like to think they were a bit sad to see Mom go away for a month.

February 24:

Boy it gets hot here!! But we are coping very well with the heat. Mom says it is not as humid as it is during Montréal summers and we think we prefer not having to shovel snow as people do there in February!

We are very vocal these days, we are still not completely aware of the true meaning of decibels but we don't care because we have so much fun! We are also doing very well in the eating department. Our parents started us on rice cereal a few weeks ago, as a supplement to breastfeeding, we love apple enhanced rice cereal, it's got a whole lot more flavour. Cordelia still makes funny faces with almost every bite though, it makes Mom crack up!

The acrobatic Véronique makes diaper changes an exhausting experience for our parents, trying (and managing) to roll over on her tummy, or grab anything within reach. Cordelia goes for the grabbing but not for the rolling, yet, though she did give it a real good try today. We are both very interested in everything Mom and Dad do. We try to help with a lot of the stuff, as long as it involves grabbing!
