Cordelia & Véronique
Hello!
Thank you for stopping by, we are brand new non-identical twins (a.k.a.: fraternal twins or bizygote twins). We were born on October 13th 1998, at 41 weeks, Véronique (on the right in the picture) at 10:54 PM GMT +08:00, Cordelia (on the left) right at 11:00 PM GMT +08:00 (Just in case someone wants to figure out our astrological chart or our rising sign!) They tell us that twins are usually born around the 36th week... We guess we just wanted to do things our way! This makes us Librans, astrologically speaking, which is not a bad thing at all! The Planetary Ruler is Venus, which tends to make Librans rather romantic and idealistic ... a typical, well-known Libran is Brigitte Bardot; need we say more? :-) We kind of like the idea of being born on the 13th of the month, too! Dad is Australian, he was born in Harvey, W.A. Mom is from Montréal, Québec, Canada. She and Dad met at the end of June 1997 in an internet chat room (30+ on oz.org) and they quickly became close internet buddies ... one thing led to another ... Mom decided to come to Australia on Christmas 1997 for a vacation and to meet Dad and quite contrary to any plans they may have had - not to mention extreme medical improbability - they have managed to conceive us during that brief visit !! So much for Dad's "near-sterile sperm count", we reckon that this makes us a little miracle! Mom got her temporary Australian resident status on October 28th (in August 2000 she'll get her permanent status). She's very happy about that because it was quite a bit of work for her and Dad to manage their way through the paperwork required by DIMA (Australian Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs), but they made it and they did a great job! Mom arrived back in Australia on August 5, 1998, 48 hours after she left Montréal! She spent 9 hours in Los Angeles, California and 10 hours in Auckland, New Zealand between flights and she was 31 weeks pregnant! She really liked the fact that the Aukland Airport had shower facilities.
Our parents got married on August 21 at the office of the Registrar General, in Perth. You'd imagine that the Registrar General would be some old man with white hair, but this one was really young! We wondered if he was old enough to do the job! Most of our relatives are in Canada, which is the main reason why we have this web page. This way, they can see pictures of us and find out what is going on. This goes for Mom and Dad's friends too. Of course, Mom keeps in touch with our Canuck relatives via email, almost every day, but we think it's really cool to have our own web page! Speaking of relatives, our Canadian Aunt and Uncle (Mom's siblings) are twins too! Auntie-Isabelle is really excited to have twin nieces! Uncle-Frédéric will have a baby in 1999, we don't know yet if it will be a boy or a girl but we know he and Élise are only having ONE! Mom seems to be adjusting well to being a mother. It's a far cry from the career she had in Canada. She worked in the Music Industry, spending her last 3 years in Toronto working for Sub Pop as their Canadian Label Manager. We may tell you more about Mom later, and you can find out more about Dad from his web page, he's updated it recently and it looks pretty spiffy! He's a great Dad!!!
At 4 weeks we started making very cute cooing noises, and smiling, which makes Mommy and Daddy weak at the knees every time! We were also very proud of our newly developed neck muscles. We still love to bob our heads up and down a lot! Cordelia can't wait to walk, and Véronique can't wait to talk! When we were 11 weeks Barbara, a friend of Mom's, came all the way from Canada to visit. She got to experience something new we now do... GRAB things! So we grabbed her hair a lot, and her clothes too! She didn't mind though, she loved us ;-) That's about it for the moment, we're now 3 months old (on the 13th of January!), so we still have plenty of surprises planned for our folks! Please come back and visit our page again soon; we're hoping Mom and Dad will keep it updated and current, so stay tuned for more pictures of people we know and of us, and more stories of how we are doing! |
