Brazen Claws Assault Squad

The Brazen Claws are believed to be a Second Founding Iron Hands successor Chapter. Colours and markings from Insignium Astartes.

The first of this planned 5 man squad, slight change to the red compared to the original Tac squad. Switched to Vallejo rather than GW paints and tried to make the red a little darker...

Okay, after some advice from the good folks over at the B&C I've switched the background for the photos. Amazing what an $0.85 piece of card can do. Still need to sort out some lighting issues to get the pics spot on but they're pretty close to real life...

And the colour recipe for this guy goes like this:

Red

Black Undercoat
Vallejo Scar Red basecoat w/blacklining
Highlights go through 3+ stages (up to 9 or 10 layers at most), basically 3 mixes of Scar Red/Gory Red - 70/30 then 60/40 the 85/15. At that point I start adding another lighter red in gradually for the finest highlights, I'm still experimenting with GWs Blood Red (too orange) and Vallejo's Bloody Red (too pink) to find the right mix for those last highlights.

Blue

Black undercoat
GW's Enchanted Blue basecoat w/blacklining
Highlights work the same way as the red, just mixing EB/Ice Blue (or it's Vallejo equivalent). Final highlights are almost straight Ice Blue as it's much brighter than than EB.

Brass

Black Undercoat. Dark Flesh basecoat. Then Brazen Brass with highlights of BB/Shining Gld, up to pure Shining Gold.
