Brazen Claws Tactical Squad Icmalius

The Brazen Claws are believed to be a Second Founding Iron Hands successor Chapter. Colours and markings from Insignium Astartes.

This is the second Tactical Squad for my Brazen Claws force, or at least, the beginning of it it...

Tactical Sergeant Icmalius

The first of this planned 8 man squad, I tried out a number of different red techniques while painting this guy, most of the variance is actually washed out by my poor red photography luckily.

The skull pommel on his sword had an accident involving an 8kg black cat and some teeth and had to be removed and I was too lazy to fix it up so it looks a bit odd right now. I'll fix it one day...maybe...

I've held off painting his squad markings 'til I see the new UM style decal sheets as I kinda like the small markings, plus they'd fit better around the shoulder pouches. Speaking of pouches, they're painted to match the gear on his brethren in the Assault Squad, looks much better than black I must say...

Re-photographed Icmalius after some advice from Kurgan the Lurker and Commander Y about lighting, I think the new pic is truer to life, if not necessarily better....

Brother Gelanor, Plasma Gunner

Mix of two red techniqes...again. Old technique on the legs, new, darker on the upper body. Like the fella below I kinda rushed him at the end and it shows a little but I really just wanted to get him off the painting table after 6+ months .

Still I am happy with the bionics, the legs are from the Iron Hands box set and except for the hideous claw foot are cool, they turned out pretty well too I think. The plasma gun is from the CSM box set as I prefer the look of it to the Imperial gun. The coils are meant to be cooling down unlike every other plasma coil in the world which looks to be getting ready to fire. Didn't work terribly well, did it?

Brother Sidero

As above, 2 types of red and a bit of a rush to get him off the desk. Not a bad job but not great either.

Only interesting thing 'bout this lad is the Iron Warriors helm he's got, I think it gives his overall armour quite the archaic look. The helm also works well with a split scheme though I must admit, it has the right shape for the split down the middle. The decal on this guy is another shocker, I really need to freehand them or maybe make up a GS symbol...

The colour recipes for this squad is much the same as my Assault Squad so go look there if you really must know how they were painted...
