Painting Recipe
Pretty simple.Chaos Black undercoat sprayed on. Cover any deficiencies
with nice thin Chaos Black then layers of Chaos Black/Shadow Grey.
I think it has 3 -4 layers, 1st is 80/20 CB/SG, then 60/40, then
I jumped to 20/80 and added a final touch of plain Shadow Grey on
the high points. Gave it a couple of coats of very thin black glaze
(10 parts water to 1 part ink) to tie the shades together. Then
Dulcote which also helps tie things together.
To be honest I'm not sure how they got that sort of 'feathered'
or 'dusted on' look, which is a pity 'cos it's a neat effect. I
think I may have carefully drybrushed the middle two coats on, with
a little more paint than usual drybrushing has, rather than layered
them properly, but I'm not exactly sure, guess old age must be creeping
up on me...
I listed most of my techniques for mixing paint and layering in
my Sons of Guilliman 'how-to' so just click the link for more info.
