The Queensland Defence Force (QDF) can be said to have originated in March 1860 when the Colony accepted the services of No.1 Infantry Company and Queensland Mounted Rifles from Ipswich. QDF Units finally amalgamated into the Commonwealth Forces in 1903, some 43 years to the month.
