OK here's the mandatory 'about me' part of the site...
I'm neither an astronomer nor a photographer and wouldn't really consider myself as an astrophotographer. Astrophotography is way too complicated and delicate, requiring years of experience and recognition to earn such title. I am more of a techno buff, drawn to anything technical, mechanical, electronical and the more complicated it all fit together more I love it.
Like a moth drawn to light (those high voltage zapper kind) I love the technical nature of the hobby and it hits me hard with problems when you least expect it, far from civilization, in the dark and in the middle of bush somewhere. Unlike the moth scenario I live to face the problems another day... or night rather, but this time I'd be armed with concoction of solutions which only seem to add complexity to the system. Sounds familiar?
But of course, I would have given up the hobby a long time ago if it wasn't for the rewarding comments from my dear wife..... "that's nice dear...can we go home now?".
Luckly after few years of tinkering at the telescope, my images aren't that bad now that even my wife thinks it was worth the trip out to the bush, but I'll leave that judgement to those who truly understands the amount of effort that goes into these images or to those who really have convinced their loved ones that it really was worth the trip out to the bush in the middle of the night. Respect!
