Don't Describe Yourself by What You're Not.
Complaint time.
A few weeks ago I had a brief encounter with someone who described himself as an "exMormon". I really hate that, and this is why:
Every single person I've come across that describes themself as an "exMormon" is a bitter, twisted, angry person where one of their biggest goals in life is to stick it to the Church. Sure, they may have issues and disagree with the church and thus have gone their separate ways, but must they be so openly bitter about it? It makes them very, VERY ugly people.
My advice to them: If you dislike being a Mormon, then stop being an exMormon. Why continue to affiliate yourself with a faith you no longer agree with? Even if you're trying to make a stand against them, please, find a better way to do it. By insisting to all and sundry that you're an exMormon, you truly are labelling yourself a Son of Perdition. You may think you're "fighting the fight" and "standing up for yourself" by announcing your former associations, but stop deceiving yourself. Your behaviour isn't reflecting poorly upon the Church, as you think it is, but it is reflecting poorly upon you. You're not fooling any of us, except maybe the most gullible and weak. (And as they are gullible and weak, we don't fear for them either, for the moment you are gone and another influence comes into play, they will swing back the other way.)
Now, this is not to say that every person who was once LDS falls into this group. I've got several good friends who are no longer affiliated with the faith. They've gone on with their lives. They no longer consider themselves Mormon, so they cease using the label. As a result, so do others. And they're okay people.
It is up to each person to find their path. If you have become disenchanted with your path, then don't rant and rail against the path. That is the sure way to personal destruction, no matter what path you follow.
Go find another path. And stop calling yourself "Mormon", even if it's "exMormon". Don't describe yourself by what you're not.

So now I use LJ. Sosumi.
Yes, I've neglected this blog. It's difficult to maintain (on the back end) and doesn't allow comments. This sort of setup works for my buddy Carl, and more power to him for wanting to put forth the effort.
But I'm so busy now, I can't be buggered.
Meanwhile, I'm doing some web page maintenance and updatery.
