17 August 2005 For the past two weeks, ever since the end of the Marathon, I've suddenly been able to write. I abandoned my story "God, Angels and Little Fishies" in favour of "Of The Dark", which suddenly started speaking to me. It said about 30 thousand words, and wants to say more. I'm impressed. I'm completely rewriting the novels (or as my writing mentor would put it, "global revision") and I must say how pleased I am with how things are turning out. I've had a few good reviews on the Online Writing Workshop and am hoping to impress more people. If the momentum of this keeps up, I may have all three books done before the end of the year. 28 August 2005 Woo Hoo! Last night my roadshow "Who Am I" took second place! In addition, we also scooped "Best Original Song" for the finale "Place Where You Belong", Zack won "Best Actor" and I am much Much MUCH surprised to get "Best Actress." Why? Because I was the understudy. The actor playing Top Dog had to pull out at the final dress rehearsal, and I understudied. As soon as I get a Round Tuit, I'll post the script and music up on the site. If I have time, I'll update everything else to MP3s. Congratulate me; I'm the writer of award-winning musical comedies. 30 Aug 2005 So, does this qualify as a promise kept for my two entries in August? I must confess that I haven't written anything further for Of The Dark, all because of the last two weeks being literally devoted to the Roadshow. Now that it's over, I can return to the novel which has been driving me nuts, because I've been jonesing real bad to finish it. Sales this Month "Nebula Birthplace or Refiner's Fire" to IROSF and more articles to Oki Nirmala. I also got fan mail the other day from someone in Indonesia! I'm vicariously looking forward to CascadiaCon where a fellow RFFer asked to present a copy of my "Increasing Literacy through Science Fiction and Fantasy" article to the Educators' Conference. |
