Her Grace's Home Page

Welcome to the Music Pages of
Her Grace, the Lady Heidi, Duchess of Kneale

Her Grace loves music and has composed some lovely pieces for your enjoyment. These pieces are available for performance under Chocolate Copyright (All Rights Reserved). Email Her Grace for more info.
Her Grace has a really groovy sound card that makes midi pieces sound wonderful. You may not. If they sound a little, um, "computery", it could be because they are playing on a computer. If you can't hear anything after pressing play, you may want to check your sound settings.

However, I've started adding mp3s, and they sound cool... mostly. My studio and equipment aren't the best-of-the-best. If you've got a real life orchestra you'll lend to me, please let me know.

Doc Savage Overture - (7:06)

Especially for the Fans of Bronze. This piece isn't complete, and I don't know if I'll ever complete it soon. Still, enjoy.

Nocturne in C Minor - (2:25)

This lovely little nocturne started out with me wanting the music to go one way, but it demanded to go another. So I let it. And it was right.

Angriefugie - (2:05)

Not really a "fugue" in the traditional sense (nor a canon for that matter), this piece reflects the single-mindedness of anger and the repetitiveness of those little angry thoughts that run through our heads.

Variations on a Theme - (8:00)

Also known as the Fluff Variations, this takes a short theme (a bit of "fluff" I wrote one day) and expands on it a dozen times or so. I also have an orchestral version I'm rather fond of. No doubt it would sound better with a real orchestra. If you have one you're willing to lend me, let me know.
See below for the ALB Chorale version of the Theme in MP3.

Bang nIS be' excerpt - (1:27)

This haunting melody sings of cold hearts and lost loves. It's taken from a trio of the same name from a Klingon opera I once wrote called "chIS chuQUn" (Honora's Song). This was once performed in public by three Klingons and a string quartet.

Motherlife - (1:50)

One of my ancestors lost four young children in the space of two years to disease. In her grief she wrote a touching poem that featured the words, "This is the Motherlife, to bear, to love, to lose..." Her words touched me so much I had to set them to music. This is the result.

"Christmastime" from "The Emotions", Angry Little Babies rough mix - (1:12)

Another ALB Chorale 2005 Concert piece.
This piece is taken from a series of piece originally written for the violin, each one embodying an emotion. Originally, "Christmastime" was "Emotion 3: Friendship", but has been adapted for string quartet and choral use.

Yeah. I got more. And I might get around to adding them some day.
