Welcome to RFF-WA

Reading For the Future is a grassroots project to encourage high school students to read. It all started with an Open Proposal to the SFF community from science fiction authors David Brin, Gregory Benford and Greg Bear (the Killer Bs). Email Heidi for further info.
One of our popular projects is the "Pass It On" campaign. (see Utah's "Pass It On" success story!) The whole idea behind "Pass It On" is to give a kid a book. RFF-WA has a modest stack of books to give away Under The Condition that after the book is read, it must be passed on to someone else.
RFF-WA will accept donations of any Science Fiction or Fantasy book--no matter what condition--to ensure there will always be a book to give away. Email Heidi for further info.

Our Latest Adventures!

On 9-10 October 2004, RFF-WA had a panel at Wasteland Con in Perth. We had at least a quarter of all attendees drop in at one time or another. Many collected Pass It On books to share with others. Several people expressed interest in collecting books and passing them along to young readers.
You don't need to be an official member of RFF-WA to be able to participate in Pass It On. Simply print the following bookplate, stick it in a book, and hand the book to a kid. That's all you need to do.

Pass It On
Thank you for accepting this book from Reading For the Future Australia. This book is free of charge on the condition that after you've read it you pass it along to someone else. Share the joy of Science Fiction and Fantasy.

On 3 April 2003, RFF-WA had the opportunity to attend the All Saints' Literature Festival at All Saints College in Bullsbrook, Western Australia. We were a hit! Not only were we able to give away all but three novels in our Pass It Along program, but got many book recommendations from young readers.
Over three hundred students and teachers visited the RFF-WA booth, many of them picking up our Recommended Reading List.
Overall, it was a good day. All Saints Lit Fest has asked us to return again next year. If you have a book you'd like to donate to the Pass It On program, please email Heidi to see how you can donate a book.

Send Heidi email! She'd love to hear from you.
