the FACT or FANTASY page

This Q & A page has been created sadly out of necessity for reader information in an attempt to dispell some of the myths that continue to abound. The examples below are actual questions that we have been asked. We have lost count of the numerous emails we have received regarding the content below. It is morally reprehensible to garnish St Bernard buyers with misinformation and perpetuate such rubbish in order to secure a puppy sale. The future guardians of this precious breed deserve and are entitled to far more consideration and respect than they seem to be curently receiving.
Q: I have been told that there is a minature version of the St Bernard Breed where can I buy one?
A: There is only ONE St Bernard breed. Size differs through bloodlines and geographical location only. The breed overall is generally becoming smaller but the breed standard has minimum height requirements and these should be adhered to.
Q: I have heard that there are some St Bernards that don't drool, where can I get one?
A: ALL St Bernards drool. There is no such thing as a non drooling St Bernards. Some drool less than others. Its not gender related either. Dairy products tend to make them drool more. If you don't like drool then either choose another breed or invest in two dozen nappies/diapers and make good use of them :-)
Q: I have heard that short coat St Bernards shed less than long coated ones - is this true?
A: No it certainly isn't. Both coat types shed the same, the smooth coat variety hairs are just shorter thats all.

as we receive more of these "little gems" we will post them here as well as other useful information
