Index of Reports of Demonstration (ZV) Programmes in David Leigh's Binder Last updated: 19 June 2010: David Green Each report contains (description/operating instructions/flow charts/code) unless noted otherwise. ZV01N (No. 85) NS t 1058 Demonstrator (Narrator) (and ZV01N/1). A Demonstration system in which the DEUCE (1) presents any required story, the words of which appear to move continuously up the face of the monitor tube, and (2) performs demonstration programs at required intervals throughout the narration. ZV02 (No. 6) K/AA t 1464 pp3-9 Easter Day. On the Web as a pdf file (808 Kb). The program reads a year from the I.D. and displays in the scope the date of Easter Sunday in that year. ZV03 (No. 7) K/AA t 1464 pp10-16 Million Factors Slow. On the Web as a pdf file (778 Kb). This program reads a number less than a million from the I.D.; computes its smallest factor, if any; and displays this, or the word 'Prime', in the scope. ZV03/1 (No. 8) K/AA t 1464 pp10-16 Million Factors Fast. On the Web as a pdf file (778 Kb). ZV03/1 is considerably faster than ZV03 and should be used in preference. ZV03N (No. 90) K/AA t 1464 pp10-16 Million Factors Slow, use with Narrator. On the Web as a pdf file (778 Kb). This is a standard brick to run the demonstration under the control of ZV01. ZV03/2 (No.237) K/AA t 1464 pp17-25 Billion Factors. This program reads a number less than a billion (1012) from the I.D.; computes its smallest factor, if any; and displays this, or the word 'Prime', in the scope. ZV03/3 (No.384) K/AA t 1464 pp17-25 Billion Factors (without 17-0). ZV03/3 supersedes ZV03/2 which will not work on machines fitted with A.I.M. ZV04 (No. 9) K/AA t 1464 pp26-33 Reaction Times. The program measures the time interval between a signal telling the participant to depress a key and this action. ZV04N (No. 91) K/AA t 1464 pp26-33 Reaction Times (for use with Narrator). ZV04T/1 (No.669) K/AA t 1464 pp34-39 Reaction Times (Two-Way). The program measures the time interval between a signal telling the participant to move a key either up or down and this action; and displays the time on the scope in milliseconds. This program is preferable to ZV04 because the executive order, being variable, is less likely to be anticipated: the order UP or DOWN is decided by a random number generator. ZV05 (No. 10) K/AA t 1464 pp40-49 Down You Go. This program contains a series of phrases that the participant has to guess. Initially the display is a framework consisting of three digits underlining each letter in the phrase. The player chooses one letter at a time and this is added to the display wherever it occurs. The object of the game is to guess the phrase with as few letter choices as possible. ZV06 (No. 5) Calendar. This is mentioned in the summary of ZV06T/1. No other information is available. ZV06T/1 (No.670) K/AA t 1464 pp50-56 Calendar. On the Web as a pdf file (977 Kb). The program reads a date (A.D. only) set on the I.D., calculates the day of the week on which it falls and displays the answer in the scope. Allowance is made for the change from the Julian to the Gregorian Calendar on 3rd-13th September, 1752. ZV07/N (No. 92) 16(?) Simultaneous Equations - Use with Narrator. Mentioned in DEUCE Programme News #18 but absent from the binder. ZV08 (No.212) NS t 1119. Nim. On the Web as a pdf file (1.7 Mb). This programme uses the I.D. and O.P.S. facility as a medium for playing the game of NIM. ZV09 (No.255) K/AA t 1457. Display Simple Sum. The program solves a simple arithmetic problem: ('a' function 'b' = ?) that is set on the I.D. and displays the sum and its result in the scope. ZV10 (No.350) K/AA t 1464 pp57-58 (no flow chart or code) Noughts and Crosses. The program enables the operator to compete with DEUCE at the game of 'Noughts and Crosses'. ZV11 (No.671) K/AA t 1464 pp59-63 Saved as zv11.pdf. Willie the Worm. On the Web as a pdf file (562 Kb). This program displays the random meanderings over the scope of a pattern of digits in the shape of a worm. ZV12 (No.672) K/AA t 1464 pp64-66 Lulu. This program displays on the scope the motions of a dancing girl.
