Champion Lakes International Rowing Course Development.

While it's not too well known at the moment, the construction of an international standard rowing course at Champion Lakes is proceeding at a steady rate.  The site work is well underway and we have managed to secure some documents showing how it will look when finished.

The photos and documents below give a good idea of what's been completed so far and we will post more on this site as they become available.

Please bear in mind that some of the files are quite large and so will take longer than usual to download on a modem link.

17th May 2004:

Excavation of the rowing course waterway has been mostly completed with the earth being used on the nearby Tonkin Highway construction.  The bottom of the lake will be lined with plastic to minimise seepage and contamination of the underground water reserves.  These three photos show the work in progress.
