New miyalk ranger program
Dhimurru is very pleased to announce the new Miyalk (Womens') Ranger program. The Team consists of Angela Cashion; Facilitator, Bawuli Marika; Senior Miyalk Ranger, and the Rangers; Daylulu Marika, Datjuluma Yunupingu and Wangawuy Munungurritj. The program opens up new opportunities for Yolngu Women in the community alongside the men that are currently filling Sea Country and IPA ranger positions at Dhimurru. The role of the Miyalk is similar to the other ranger positions as they help with activities such as weed monitoring, feral animal control, patrols, training, survey work and rubbish clean ups as well as office training and using their knowledge of local plants to help with identification projects. We look forward to making this program as successful as the other programs operating out of Dhimurru.
