THE AWFUL FLANDERS AND WALLONIA TRAIN WRECK

The rumour spread quickly as commuters gathered round
one train had left Halle Station and was traveling northern bound
the other was the local from Buizingen headed down
for a fateful meeting on the Brussels-Mons track
in that awful Flanders and Wallonia train wreck.

The carriages were compacted together by the crash
brute force had caused the power lines above to be detached
survivors staggered out amongst dead bodies on the tracks
the driver of the southern train killed instantly on deck
in the awful Flanders and Wallonia train wreck.

A spokesman for the government said nineteen people died
another fifty badly injured more were hospitalized
some said one train had run the red or on the wrong line
others blamed ice even the driver was suspect
in the awful Flanders and Wallonia train wreck.

Wallonia had the country’s highest unemployment rate
Flanders was resigned to vote Secession as its fate
the split would be the final straw for Belgium as a State
but that day all Belgians felt the loss and the regret
of the awful Flanders and Wallonia train wreck.
