As we are a relatively new public breeding consultancy we will post the results of our clients breeding programs as their horses race.

2yo Falcon Seelster filly Zenstar has followed in the footsteps of her elder half brother Tintin In America – the current fastest male pacer in NZ, smashing the NZ record for juveniles over 1700m in a Breeders Crown Heat at Cambridge Raceway on Thursday evening, and defeating the glamour pair of Harness Jewels winner Gotta Go Harmony and Caduceus Club victor Flying Pocketlands.

While the two favourites destroyed each others chances out front Zenstar and David Butcher sat quietly in behind and were able to dash through on the passing lane to score by three-quarters of length in a stunning 2:02.3 – a mile rate of 1:55.8!

The time lowered Gotta Go Cullect’s previous national 2yo record by 1.4 seconds.

The Geoff Small trained and owned filly has won two of her three starts to date.

Well done to Equinex client Bee Pears and her marvellous mare Zenterfold. We had great pleasure in assessing Zenstar's sire Falcon Seelster with Zenterfold for Bee.

Once again the high class three year old Tintin in America lived up to his promising reputation and genetic structure winning the Group 1 TABCORP Australasian Breeders Crown Final on Sunday 23 August 2009.

Perfectly driven Tintin in America powered home over a very brave Bonavista Bay to win the 2240 metre race in a very slick 1.56.2, running his last half mile in 57.6.

Tintin in America continues to do New Zealand breeder, and Equinex client Bee Pears proud now earning some $520,800 in stakes.

What a fantastic result for Equinex client Elliott Booth from Tasmania with his genetically well structured Grinfromeartoear 2 year old gelding Iden Justasmyrk who produced a huge performance to win at his last start at Launceston by a conservative 44 metres. This followed on from a Hobart win by 22 metres seven days earlier.

All the best to Elliott who is having a marvellous run with his horses, and one that we think will continue for some time to come based on the breeding dynamics of his broodmares.

What an awesome performance by Tintin in America for breeder Bee Pears and trainer Geoff Small.

Tintin in America is now the fastest pacing male over a mile in New Zealand (all ages) after his win in the Group 1 Emerald for 3yo at Ashburton on 30th May 2009.

The McArdle colts time was 1.53.2 bettering  the champion Auckland Reactor’s mile of 1.53.5, set earlier this year. He has won seven of his 21 starts and $411,050 in stakes for the ATC Trot 2008 Syndicate.

Tintin in America also reeled off an amazing 55.7 last half and 25.9 last quarter.

One can only ponder what the future holds for this well bred colt, who has been blessed with a dual affinity by our breeding methodology, which covers both sides of his mares pedigree.

Well it did not take long for Special Tint to break her maiden status.

After an impressive 4th placing at her first start, where a few things went wrong in the run, Special Tint stepped back out at Globe Derby where she led and won convincingly.

Well done again to Equinex client Malcolm Walker with his obviously talented filly.

What a night for young reinsman Jayson Finnis on 1st May when he drove Highview Congo to a great win for his Father and trainer Barry Finnis, and his Grandfather owner, Equinex client Peter Medhurst from South Australia.

Highview Congo was a yearling recommendation for Peter from the New Zealand yearling sales, and was having her first start in a race at Globe Derby.

Well done to all concerned, and this was obviously a great family affair.

Based on the beautiful breeding structure of this filly we at Equinex are sure there will be many more wins in store for this talented filly.

In the same race another Equinex designed filly in Special Tint for Malcolm Walker (owner\breeder of Lightning McCool) ran a great race to finish 4th at her first start in a race.

What a great result for long time Equinex client, Peter Judd from Victoria with his Aces N Sevens filly Morgan Abby.

This filly was selected for Peter by Equinex from the Sydney APG Sales, and was assessed as having a strong dual genetic affinity by our breeding methodolgy.

Morgan Abby has now won two of her three starts and will now run in the $300,000 Australian Pacing Gold Final Group 1 on Friday night at Moonee Valley on the 1st May.

While Morgan Abby will compete against a high class field of fillies including the well bred Rocknrolla, Stunin Girl, Mach and Me, and Modern Girl we are sure with luck in running she will acquit herself in fine style.

Best of luck Peter and Carol.

Another well done to Equinex client Bee Pears and her high class colt Tintin in America.

This well bred colt was most unlucky yet again when finishing a 3/4 length second in the 2009 New Zealand Derby behind Sleepy Tripp in the fast time of 1.58.5 for the 2600 metres.

Tintin in America has now earned some $295,090, and has won 5 and been placed in 7 other races from his 18 lifetime racetrack appearances to date.

Many congratulations to the connections of the well bred galloper Masai Pride who on Saturday 10th January recorded a fantastic win in the $500,000 Magic Millions Cup.

While Masai Pride had already won over $300,000 in stakes, he has always had the capacity to win a very big race with just an ounce of racing luck.

Masai Pride won the race in the fast time of 1.21.62 for the 1400 metres.

We are sure there will be many more wins in store for this talented galloper.

Well done to an array of Equinex designed horses who have returned from a spell in winning form.

Some of these are Yrubla, Lightning McCool, Bicycle Bill, Harry's Lass,  Petes Elect and Tintin in America.

We hope the connections of these horses are again in for a long and successful campaign this time back.

An update on a few of Equinex designed US horses.

Equinex client Bill Childs who hails from Maine, originally purchased the pacing filly Race Me Valerie as a yearling recommendation. This filly has now won 33 races, and has 37 places to her credit. Race Me Valerie has now won $184,201 in stakes, and has a lifetime best mark of 1.51.3.

Another filly by Bill's stallion Moving Forward is Race Me Bridget.

Designed for Bill in an assessment of his stallion, Race Me Bridget is out of the Donerail mare, Sassy Cathy.

Race Me Bridget has now had 6 wins and 8 places from her 17 lifetime starts. While it is early days in this fillies racing career, she has now earned $62,260 in stakes.

Let's hope the winners keeping rolling in for Bill and his wife Betsy.

Equinex now has it's first world record holder in Fake Denario who in 2008 paced a mile in 1.48.2, which was a world record on a five eighths track.

Fake Denario was originally one of our yearling recommendations for one of our Perth clients, who unfortunately failed to secure this very classy performer.

Fake Denario has now won 24 races, and has been placed in 23 others, earning stakes of $675,756 in the USA.

Another Equinex horse in Beau Rivage designed originally for one of our New Zealand clients has now taken a personal best mark of 1.49.2 this year.

Well we didn't have to wait long for the highly promising Glenmore to record his first city win.

Only 6 days after his slashing Northam win, Glenmore recorded an excellent win at Belmont over 1000 metres on the 27th August in a fast time of 58.21.

While we are sure the connections are over the moon at the moment, they have more to look forward to as this horse has been genetically designed to perform over much longer journeys than 1000 metres.

Congratulations to long time Equinex client, Dorothy Fowler with the win of her Equinex designed galloper, Glenmore on the 21st August 2008.

Glenmore produced an impressive performance at his first race start racing outside the leader initially then going away strongly in the straight to win by 3 1\2 lengths on the bit.

In the process Glenmore broke the Northam maiden track record for 1100 metres running 1.02.42.

Considering Dorothy actually freighted Glenmore’s dam, Princess Tatiana to South Australia to be served by our stallion selection Jeune, is testament to Dorothy’s belief in the service we provide, and we are extremely grateful for her long term support.

We expect many more wins for Glenmore, and we think it will not be long before he salutes the judge on a major metropolitan track.

What a super season it has been for Equinex client, Malclom Walker with his star Equinex designed colt, Lightning McCool.

Lightning McCool continued on his winning way on 2nd August when he trounced his rivals in the Group 2 - 2008 ALABAR SOUTHERN CROSS TWO YEAR OLD COLTS & GELDINGS FINAL.

In what could only be described as a stellar season Lightning McCool finished his two year old campaign having 12 starts, with 8 wins and 3 placings, and a best time of 1.59.1.

I’m sure Malcolm, like all of us at Equinex can’t wait for his three year old campaign to start.

Well done to Victorian breeder Ray McVilly whose well bred Jet Laag colt Old Warandyte Road saluted at Echuca on 17th July 2008.

After some unlucky initial performances which included three 4ths, Old Warandyte Road finally received a bit of racing luck and won well.

Good luck to Ray, and let’s hope there are many more wins when Old Warandyte Road returns from a well earned spell.

A well done to Victorian breeder, John Mills with his Equinex designed Astral Flight.

Astral Flight is by Jet Laag out of John's good mare Tucumlucy, and recorded his first win at Ballarat in May 2008.

Astral Flight recorded a good time for the two year olds on the night with a mile rate of 2.02.7, reeling off his last half mile in 59.1, and his last quarter in 29.1 seconds.

Good luck to John with his colt in the $20,000 Vicbred Super Sires Series at Mooney Valley on the 4th July.

Congratulations to Equinex client Carlo Sortino with his latest two year old winner Mister Roarke by Island Fantasy out of Miles Legacy.

We originally recommended Island Fantasy's half brother Island Glow, but he was not available, thus Island Fantasy was the obvious logical choice as an alternative stallion for his mare.

The resultant colt foal was Mister Roarke who won at his first start at Kilmore on the 10th June 2008.

Mister Roarke made up a tremendous amount of ground in the last 400 meters to score a classy win, being privately clocked to run his last 400 metres in 29.5 seconds. When you consider the race last 400 metres was recorded as 32.7 seconds, it shows just how much ground Mister Roarke made up.

Carlo is having a very good run with all this mare's progeny at present with Mister Roarke's half brother Country Occasion winning recently at Mooney Valley in 1.56.4.

Another half brother in Rebel Rocket continues to race well, recently running 4th at Mooney Valley in 1.55.0 after being taken on in the lead the whole race.

More congratulations to South Australian breeder Bruce Williams with his Equinex designed Longtan Spur who is now a winner in 1.58.6.

While Longtan Spur is a natural frontrunner, he has let him self down a little when not able to lead.

I'm sure Bruce is working hard on this aspect of Longtan Spur's racing, and hopefully he will salute the judge many more times in the future.

Well done to breeder and Equinex client Bob Corfield.

Bob is the breeder of the high class horse Twelve Paces, the winner of $184,000, and 20 of his 34 starts.

Now his full brother Murcielago is starting to display the genetic ability that his full brother and Equinex designed Twelve Paces has shown.

Murcielago recently won his heat of the WA Pearl Classic at Gloucester Park by some 22 metres running the 2130 metre journey at a 2.00.8 rate with his last 800 metres in a slick 58.4 seconds.

Good luck to the current connections in the $100,000 Pearl Final to be run on Friday 20th June.

An update on an amazing performance by Tin Tin in America.

At his latest start he was taken on all the way by a horse who finished second last in the Listed 2yo Emerald Stakes at Cambridge, New Zealand.

Only to be run down by the horses that sat on his coat tails, Tin Tin in America posted a marvellous time of 1.55.5 in finishing a close 3rd.

What a night for New Zealand breeder and Equinex client Bee Pears, and her beautifully bred two year old Tintin in America who is by the high class stallion McArdle.

This very classy colt is a classic example of what can be achieved with a strong dual affinity.

Tintin In America won the Garrards – Nevele R Sires Stakes Final in a record time over one of the brightest bunch of two-year-olds in recent seasons in New Zealand.

The winning time of 2.20.5 smashed the previous record set in the same race five years earlier by the champion Likmesiah a $400k winner. The overall mile rate for the two year olds over the 1950m trip was an amazing 1.55.9, with the last half mile in 56.5 and the last 400 in 27.6.

Tintin in America's dam is the In the Pocket mare, Zenterfold who is a very well structured mare genetically, and was always destined for great things in the breeding barn based on her breeding.

Well done Bee, and we all look forward to following Tintin in America's, and Zenterfold's other foals careers with great anticipation.

You may be interested to know that Zenterfold has since produced a magnificent filly foal by Grinfromeartoear.

Another update on four Equinex designed horses currently racing.

Petes Elect has now a lifetime mark of 1.58.7, and has now won 10 races and been placed in 6 others form his 18 lifetime starts.

The classy two year old Lightning McCool has now won 3 races and has been placed in 3 others from his 7 lifetime starts.

The ultra consistent Twelve Paces continues on his winning way, with now 19 wins and 8 places from his 34 lifetime starts. It is interesting to note that his full two year old brother Murcielago had his first start at Gloucester Park on 17th May 2008 and finished a slashing second after coming from well back after being slowly away.

From the Shaky Isles, Beau Rivage who won 7 races in New Zealand is now a 1.53.1 winner in the USA.

An update on the exciting Petes Elect who was designed for South Australian client, Peter Medhurst.

Petes Elect returned from an illness enforced spell in December 2007, and has won at his only two appearances.

This promising young horse has now won on 5 occasions from his 7 lifetime starts, with his other starts resulting in two seconds.

Congratulations to South Australian client Malcolm Walker with his Equinex designed two year old, Lightning McCool.

Lightning McCool's win would be very exciting for Malcolm as he was having his first race start at Globe Derby Park on the 17th December 2007.

Here's hoping for many more wins for this promising young horse.

Well done to the connections of the unusually named NUNGANUNGASTEIN, who was originally designed for long time Equinex client Peter Judd from Victoria.

NUNGANUNGASTEIN is the genetic product of Albert Albert and Peter's very nice mare True Right who is by Fake Left out of the Shadow Star mare, Paradise Found.

This talented horse won recently at Gloucester Park in 1.58.7, and has now won 6 races, and has been placed in 8 others from 26 lifetime starts

It was the girls night out on Friday 7th September, with two Equinex mares winning in different countries.

In New Zealand The Daisy continued to race with great confidence winning at Auckland. The Daisy settled well back and after a mid race move to cover the field dashed to the front and won easily by 6 lengths. She covered the 2200m in 1.58.9 with her last 800m in 57.6 and her last 400m in 28.3.

At Moonee Valley in Melbourne, Harry's Lass went on to win her 14th race. This ultra consistent mare has also been placed on 20 other occasions. Well done to Nola McGuffie and family, and let's hope there are many more wins in store for Harry's Lass.

Congratulations to New Zealand client Hadyn Roberts with his beautifully bred Christian Cullen filly, The Daisy. We originally assessed The Daisy's dam, Late Comer for Hadyn.

The Daisy who carries a very deep affinity from her sire and dam has to date taken a time trial record of 1.54.7.

Recently The Daisy won at Auckland by a staggering 15 lengths running her last 800 metres in 57.5 on the bit.

We had great pleasure in assessing The Daisy for suitable beau's, and we as I'm sure does Hadyn look forward to seeing the future progeny from this lovely filly.

That fantastic filly Fleur De Lil designed on Equinex methodology again showed her class (and her superior genetic makeup) to go and win the final of the Breeders Crown at Ballarat on 19th August, 2007.

Again this talented filly outclassed her rivals and went on for a top win in 1.58.5 over the 2200 metre race.

Fleur De Lil has now won nearly $523,000 in stakes, and has in all won 21 of her 27 race starts.

Great news for Peter Faulkner and his Equinex designed galloper God's Warrior who won recently at Nowra over the 1600 metre trip in 1.38.39.

The Ken Callaughan trained horse worked hard from an outside gate, and after sitting outside the leader all the way went on to hold off all challengers for a strong and tenacious win.

Well done Peter, and lets hope God's Warrior is over his problems and goes on to win many, many more races for you.

Well done to South Australian client Peter Medhurst with his Equinex designed Petes Elect.

Petes Elect by the great Holmes Hanover has now had 5 lifetime starts for 3 wins and 2 seconds.

This promising young horse has won heats of the South Australian Breeders Crown and the South Australian Southern Cross Stakes.

Peter considered Petes Elect very hard to beat in the final of the 2007 Southern Cross, but had to scratch because of illness.

All the same we expect Petes Elect to win many, many more races for Peter.

The amazing filly Fleur De Lil again gave her rivals a pacing lesson went she recently won the West Australian Oaks at Gloucester Park.

Fleur De Lil was a yearling recommendation for one of our Queensland clients, and has now gone on to win 17 of her 22 starts.

She has also been placed in 2 others, and amazingly has never finished further back that 5th place in her career to date.

She is made up of a beautiful blending of genes based on our methodology between her sire Armbro Operative and her dam the New Zealand bred French Flair.

Fleur De Lil has to date taken a lifetime mark of 1.56.5, and has earned $382,638 in stakes.

Another update on the very promising Yrubla, the Equinex bred two year old designed for Victorian client Peter Judd from his very well bred mare Benelise.

Yrubla who has now won at his past four starts, with his latest being the GRAEME BOARD & CO AUSSCO 2YO GRADUATE SERIES FINAL.

This promising young horse won by 11.5 metres running his last half mile in 59.3.

Yrubla's current record as at 1st May 2007 is 9 starts for 5 wins and 4 seconds.

What a fantastic night for Equinex designed horses at Bathurst on 31st March.

The first of our winners was the super promising 2 year old Yrubla (Albury backwards) who won the G1 Gold Crown Final for colts and geldings.

Yrubla was bred by long time Equinex client Peter Judd and has now had 7 starts for 3 wins and 4 seconds. This promising colt is out of Peter's well bred mare Benelise, and the union created with Yrubla's sire Jet Laag was one that further enhanced the genetic bloodlines of the mare.

The second winner on the night was the highly promising Twelve Paces by Live or Die.

Twelve Paces has now won 13 races from 19 starts, and has been placed in 2 others. His lifetime mark now stands at 1.59.0 and he has currently earned over $123,000 in stakes.

Congratulations to connections of both these promising horses. We expect there will be many, many more wins in store.

Without doubt our greatest success to date would be identifying the great Western Australian galloper Northerly as being bred on our breeding methodology.

Northerly who carries a triple genetic affinity was bred to stay and this was evidenced by his great efforts in winning the Cox Plate twice, defeating the great mare Sunline.

Northerly was in all successful in 18 Group or Listed races including the 2002 Caulfield Cup and would ultimately earn over $9 million in stakes.

We were extremely honoured to be asked by Northerly’s veterinarian to consult on his actual distance capacity based on his genetic structure on his first visit to the Eastern seaboard.

We advised that Northerly had the genetic structure to win both the Cox Plate and the Caulfield Cup, which he achieved in his second campaign.

Many congratulations to Peter Faulkner with his Equinex designed galloper, God's Warrior who recorded his first win at his second race start at Goulburn on 22nd December.

God's Warrior is by Clang and came from back in the field to record a strong win over 1400 metres.

Well done Peter, and lets hope for many more wins from God's Warrior.

What a marvellous performance by the Equinex designed Capricorn Comander at Pinjarra on the 30th October 2006.

Starting from barrier 5, Capricorn Comander merely toyed with his rivals in winning in the fast time of 1.59.2 for the 2170m.

Another pleasing aspect is that this horse has been given plenty of time to mature by trainer Ross Oliveri, and this has obviously paid dividends as Capricorn Comander reeled of his final 800m in a slick 57.6 seconds.

When you consider that the WA Derby winner Mr Yankee (who is also bred on our methodology) paced 1.59.4 in his return to racing over the same distance, it highlights what a richly talented horse Capricorn Comander has become.

What a great performance by the Equinex designed Aunt Dorothy at Belmont on 27th September.

This mare was given the opportunity to show some of her genetic staying prowess when successful over 1675 metres.

Let's hope there are many more staying wins for this talented mare.

More congratulations to the Bennett's family with the performance of their hign class mare Moment in Time.

This very well bred mare recently won in 1.56.9 at Gloucester Park over the sprint journey of 1730 metres.

Moment in Time has now won 16 races and been placed in 7 others from 39 starts.

Equinex now has it's first sub 1.50.0 performer in the USA. Jovial Joker (by Life Sign) has now taken a 1.49.2 record winning at the Meadowlands.

Jovial Joker has also taken a 1.50.4 record this season at Balmoral Park. To date this classy performer has had 37 starts in the USA for 9 wins, 8 seconds and 5 thirds in top company.

He was recommended for one of our Perth clients, and amazingly purchased by a New Zealander who would later become one of our clients.

Another well done to Dorothy Fowler and her Equinex recommended dual purpose filly Aunt Dorothy.

This talented young filly has now won at her last two starts at Kalgoorlie, and on both occasions showing plenty of courage. It appears that the addition of blinkers has helped Aunt Dorothy focus a little more in her races.

Congratulations to the connections of two very well bred gallopers who excelled in Queensland this weekend. Both the following horses are bred on Equinex's breeding methodology.

The first of these was the staying bred filly Allow who was responsible for an outstanding performance winning the Group 1 Queensland Oaks.

This filly is by the well bred stallion Rahy, who is of course a half brother to the outstanding racehorse Singspiel.

Allow's maternal blood is also of great importance, and the affinity created between Rahy and Allow's dam, Gweneira was always going to produce a horse blessed with staying acumen.

The second high class performance was handed in by the classy Mujahid colt Danleigh.

Danleigh produced a swamping finish to win the QTC Sires Produce Stakes.

While Mujahid is a well bred stallion, in our opinion Danleigh's ability has come predominantly from his very well bred dam, Graceful Lily who is the only foal from her dam by Dr Grace.

We hope many of you were able to take advantage of the 175/1 on offer for this double victory.

Yada Yada Yada A sets a Harrington track record
Wednesday, April 26, 2006 - by Matt Sparacino, publicity director, Harrington Raceway

Harrington, DE --- William Dittmar, Jr.'s, Kenny Wood, Henry King, and Stephen Iaquinta's Yada Yada Yada A set a new track record on Tuesday at Harrington Raceway, 1.52.3, when she won a $15,000 Fillies and Mares Open pace.

Driven by Jim Morand, the 6-year-old Armbro Operative mare raced last during much of the race behind a sizzling pace of :26.3, :54, and 1:231. Toy Dragon set the vicious fractions after having been parked to the quarter pole by GE's Jen.

Dream A While cleared to the lead at the three-quarters, and was followed by Four Winds N, but were both reeled in late by Yada Yada Yada A, who went on and won by one-half length. Crossfire N finished second and Fake the Moment N finished third.

As you may have noted below, Yada Yada Yada was one of Equinex's original yearling selections for one of our Victorian clients. Article courtesy of the USTA

Well done to one of our New Zealand clients in Jim Wakefield. Equinex had the pleasure to assess Jim's imported Direct Scooter mare, Glimmering some time back.

We recommended that Village Jasper would be a suitable stallion for this mare, and the subsequent mating created the very good colt, Beau Rivage.

Beau Rivage recorded his first win recently at Forbury and was responsible for an outstanding effort coming from well back on the home turn to swamp his rivals.

Based on his latest performance Jim can expect many more wins from Beau Rivage.

Congratulations to New South Wales breeder and Equinex client Bob Corfield. Equinex had the pleasure of assessing Bob's Vintner mare, Vitness. Originally Bob requested only one stallion for this mare, and we selected the well performed Live or Die.

This mating has produced the quality colt Twelve Paces who has now won 3 of his 4 starts including 2 at Harold Park.

Good luck to the connections in the up coming Australian Pacing Gold.

More congratulations go to Lynn Dowd with her Equinex yearling selection Capricorn Comander who won very well at Bunbury on the 22nd April.

Capricorn Comander has always shown much ability and after winning a trial at Gloucester Park rating 1.59.9 over the 2130m journey big things were expected from him.

It now appears that his trainer has sorted out this talented young horses gait problems, and let's hope there are many more wins in store for Lynn.

Congratulations to long time client Carlo Sortino with the win of his Equinex designed gelding in Rebel Rocket.

Rebel Rocket was created by Equinex on recommending the stallion Pacific Rocket to cover Carlo's mare, Miles Legacy.

While showing ability as a two year old, Rebel Rocket always gave the impression that he would blossom as a three year old.

This has come to pass with Rebel Rocket winning at Bendigo recently in 1.59.8 over the 1965m trip.

We are sure there will be many more wins for this talented young horse.

Well done to Queensland client Bill Smith on the win of his Equinex recommended yearling Bicycle Bill.

Bicycle Bill recorded his first two year old win for Bill at the Gold Coast, pacing his mile in 2.02.6, and from all reports will only get better with more experience.

While it is early days for two other yearlings recommended to Bill in I've Seen Enough - 2.00.7 and Fleur De Lil - 2.00.4, both appear to be set for bright careers.

Fleur De Lil won a heat of the Australian Pacing Gold, running her last quarter in 28.3 seconds.

Congratulations to the connections of the first three place getters in the colts Blue Diamond Prelude run recently at Caulfield.

All place three place getters in Due Sasso, Wonderful World and Swinging Bachelor are all bred on our breeding methodology.

The winner Due Sasso was responsible for an outstanding effort from a wide draw and showed great heart to race outside the leader and go on to win with something in hand.

Well done to Dorothy Fowler with her Equinex recommended thoroughbred filly Aunt Dorothy who recorded her first win on the 24th November 2005 at Pinjarra. This filly was recommended to Dorothy as a dual purpose filly who was genetically bred to stay. At her previous two starts Aunt Dorothy was placed second and her latest win is hopefully a sign of bigger and better things to come. Let's hope we see her in the big staying races for fillies this coming summer.

What a marvellous performance by Savannah Lombo purchased by long time Equinex client Peter Judd from Victoria.

This filly has always showed above average ability and is genetically very well structured. She has returned recently from the brink of a career ending injury to win at her first two starts from a long lay off. Savannah Lombo has now had 7 starts and only missed a place on one occasion.

Let's hope Savannah Lombo stands up this time back and goes on to win many more races for Peter.

Normally we are contracted to select a range of stallions for a particular mare, however last year we were contacted by US breeder Bill Childs, who hails from Maine.

Bill places an extreme emphasis on the genetic structure of the mare and wanted to buy a range of mares at the Harrisburg and Meadowlands Sales to suit two particular stallions.

Bill's reports were the first we have tackled on selecting mares that suit a particular stallion, not only by broodmare sire, but maternal line as well. Both reports were larger jobs than first thought, but in the end they were very rewarding and an enlightening experience.

The two stallions Bill has an interest in are Moving Forward a trotting stallion by Super Bowl out of Flory Messenger who is a full brother to Express Ride 1.53.0 - $1,019,501 in stakes and a successful sire in Sweden. The other stallion is Tridium a 1.52.3 pacing stallion by Jate Lobell out of the Bret Hanover mare Turquoise.

In Moving Forward’s case we assessed 557 trotting stallions standing in the USA and the stallions that had since been retired or died. We were left with a final list of 52 broodmare sires that have a true genetic affinity with Moving Forward.

In relation to the maternal line stallions, we reviewed over 300 stallions born between 1960 and 1990, which we felt gave him a broad spectrum of maternal bloodlines to choose from.

Many of the genetic crosses recomended to Bill for his prospective filly purchases were also assessed dual purpose prospects.

This was the case for one of Bill's purchases in Race Me Valerie, who is by Ball and Chain out of the No Nukes mare Valeree Hanover.

Race Me Valerie has now had 9 starts for 4 wins and 3 placings and recently took a lifetime best mark of 1.54.1.

Well done to two of Equinex's Victorian clients in Carlo Sortino and Peter Judd who fought out the finish of a recent race at Bendigo. We had the pleasure to consult on Carlo's Village Jasper filly Shannon's Legacy who was responsible for an outstanding performance in defeating Peter's filly Savannah Lombo whose run was also full of merit as she had not started since July 2004. Shannon's Legacy rated a slick 1.59.4 for the 1965 metre race.

Well done Carlo and Peter, I'm sure there will be many more exciting contests between these two talented filly's.

Peter would not take long to make up for his narrow defeat with Savannah Lombo as two days later another of his fillies assessed by Equinex in Beneilish would post a first race start victory at Maryborough.

Beneilsh is out of Peter's well bred mare True Right by the very well bred stallion, Troublemaker.

Apart from the fact that this union has created a singular genetic affinity between sire and dam, equally importantly, Troublemaker and True Right are both bred on our breeding methodology carrying a superior genetic make up from their respective parents.

Congratulations to the connections of the following well bred two year olds, all of which were recommended to our clients as genetically strong selections in the Perth 2004 Yearling Sales. All contested the heats of the 2005 Perth Plasterboard Centre Sales Classic and either won or were placed.
All of the following horses were ranked at 8 or higher out of 10 based on the genetic affinities with their respective sires and dams and the structure of their dam.

Spirit of Navajo winner of the WA Golden Slipper, Jupiters Darling, Walesa, Jane Elouise, Fiscal Penny, Go On Tempt Me.

Other yearlings that were assessed slightly below these yearlings were: Sports Adda, Cosmic Dream and Perfect Spring, winner of the Pearl Final. Perfect Spring has now won some $88,000 in stakes and has a best time to date of 1.58.2.

Another well done to Peter Judd with his promising Albert Albert filly, Benjordyn who was genetically designed for Peter by Equinex from his nicely bred mare Benelise.

Benjordyn won at her first racetrack appearance at Mooney Valley in late December over 1609 metres recording the good time of 2.00.2.

With Equinex's sale recommendation of the very smart filly Bendall Rose for Peter, he looks set to have a very prosperous 2005.

We hope the winners keep rolling in for you Peter.

Congratulations to Noela McGuffie with her Live or Die filly Harrys Lass who was genetically designed by Equinex. Harrys Lass has now started on 5 occasions for 2 wins and 2 seconds. Harrys Lass has a lifetime best mark to date of 1.59.8. At her latest start Harrys Lass finished a very close second to Jimmybgood, a winner of 5 of his 7 starts. You may be interested to know that Jimmybgood is a full brother to Jofess the 2004 Inter Dominion Final winner. Jofess and Jimmybgood are bred on our methodology carrying a dual genetic affinity between their sire and dam.

Well done Noela and here's hoping for many more wins for Harrys Lass.

Well done to valued Equinex client's Pam and Barry Bennetts from Western Australia. Equinex had the pleasure to consult on the breeding dynamics of Pam and Barry's very well bred Troublemaker filly, Moment in Time who is out of the classy In the Pocket mare, Pocket Time.

Moment in Time has now earned just over $84,500.00 has won 8 races and been placed in 4 others from her 20 lifetime starts to date.

Moment in Time who has a lifetime best mark of 1.58.9 was responsible for an outstanding performance in winning the Australian Oaks at Moonee Valley in July 2004.

Let's hope there are many more wins in store for this well bred filly.

Congratulations go to long time Equinex client, Peter Judd who purchased two yearling fillies on our recommendation at the 2003 Victorian yearling sales.

The first of these is Bendall Rose a Walton Hanover filly who had her first start at Geelong on the 24th January 2004, winning in very good style pacing quarters of 29.6, 34.7, 29.9 and 29.5. Bendall Rose defeated the very nice Die Laughing filly Giggybits a half sister to the $217,000 earner and also one of our yearling recommendations in Yada Yada Yada. This very classy filly has now won 14 races and been placed at 11 others from her 31 starts and has a best mark of 1.59.3 to date.

Bendall Rose has now won 4 races and been placed on 2 other occasions from 10 starts and has also finished 4th in some of the fillies classic races of 2004.

Peter's second purchase was the Chandon filly Savannah Lombo, who had her first start at Maryborough on 31st December 2003. According to Peter, Savannah Lombo was responsible for an outstanding effort first up, finishing 3rd in 2.00.8 behind the talented Albert Albert colt Yes I Can a winner of his only two starts. Savannah Lombo was unfortunately injured in this race and will be on the sidelines for a while.

Savannah Lombo has now recovered from her injuries and has now been placed on three occasions from her last four starts.

More congratulations go to Brad Steele and his partners with one of Equinex's early recommendations, Breathless Mahoney a filly by Fake Left from Grecian Robin. Breathless Mahoney's record now stands at 19 wins and 38 places with earnings near on $113,000.00 to date. This mare is starting to make her purchase price of $8,500.00 seem relatively cheap, especially as she seems to be getting better with age and to date has a lifetime best mark of 1.56.5.

To many it would seem that this filly was chosen because of the sire Fake Left and the well performed broodmare sire Golden Greek. This was not in fact the case with this filly. She was selected because of the beautiful blending of blood from the sire and the blood of the mares maternal line, a much overlooked source of genetic material.

You might also find it interesting that Breathless Mahoney's FULL sister, Rosalind has obviously been blessed with much ability also. This promising young filly is now the winner of 18 races with a best mark of 1.55.0. She has earned some $82,000.00 to date.

We would also like to congratulate Kim Harris with Harranni, who after a frustrating start to his career caused mainly by slow starts and re occurring severe foot soreness, has now won 10 races and had 12 places. Let's hope he has finally overcome his soreness problems and wins many more races for Kim.

To illustrate the odds that the average breeder/buyer faces we have included our findings of our local Standardbreds Sales for 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2001 with some startling results. All of our original selections were assessed genetically via their X Chromosome sources and most inspected for conformation faults. The following statistics we think illustrate just how difficult a task it is for the average person to purchase or breed a horse that will be successful.

As you will note of the 1122 yearlings offered for sale, 443 cost more than $5,000 with currently only 208 (18.54%) of these yearlings earning more than $5,000. There have now been 405 (36.10%) horses in total to earn more than $5,000 to date. Another interesting fact is that of the 405 yearlings to earn more than $5,000, 197 cost less than $5,000 to purchase.

Sadly however of these 1122 yearlings offered for sale and the 405 yearlings to earn more than $5,000 in stakes, there have only been 99 (8.82%) to earn more than $50,000 in stakes, of which we have selected 67.

From our original 259 selections from these sales, 91 cost less than $5,000 to purchase, with 54 (59.34%) winners and 78 (85.71%) earners in total to date. Of the 54 winners 24 were colts and 30 fillies and have earned $3.3 million in stakes. Updated 19th May 2008
