OPERATION

The network has an executive committee who have been meeting monthly since 1996. This committee discusses and acts on EWAN business on behalf of its members. Meetings are held at 4 p.m. on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at the Conservation Council, Lotteries House, Delhi St, West Perth, WA.

The committee publishes "Info Notes" twice yearly to maintain communication with members and other interested readers.

Public meetings are held on the 3rd Saturday in February and July at the Agriculture Department WA theatrette where guest speakers present up to date information relevant to weeds.

The network is supported by contributions from its members and has also been successful in obtaining several grants. Other support, at various levels, is given by the Department of Environmental Protection's Ecoplan community support program, the City of Fremantle, the Swan Catchment Centre and Agriculture WA.

The network has been successful in obtaining funding from the:

  • Gordon Reid Foundation (Lotteries Commission) in November 1998 to purchase Resource Materials.
  • Co-operative Research Centre for Weed Management Systems in February 1997 to prepare & print a poster on the recognition and management of Bridal Creeper.
  • Co-operative Research Centre for Weed Management Systems in July 1998 for Weed Buster Week promotion.
  • NHT Bushcare Funding in May 1998 to establish an environmental weed demonstration & management project. This funding supports a full time project officer.
