LOCATION
Lithophytic and also roots in moss and leaf mould at elevations of 200 to 1300m on the Malaya Peninsula and on Penang Island.

PLANT DESCRIPTION
Pale green mottled with dark green, 12.5 - 15 cm in length and 3.5 - 4 cm in width.

FLOWER DESCRIPTION
INFLORESCENCE
1-2 flowers on peduncles up to 35cm.
DORSAL SEPAL
Subcircular with an acute apex. White background with green stripes arising from the base gradually merge into purple. They stop to give a  wide white margin.
VENTRAL SEPAL
Greenish white with darker green stripes shading to purple. Elliptical shape.

PETALS
Drop slightly below horizontal. Lanceolate with ciliate margins. Maroon in colour with blackish maroon warts along the upper margin, although both margins may bear warts..
LABELLUM
Rich purple frontally with pale greenish brown beneath. Its rosey purple side-lobes are richly spotted with crimson.

FLOWERING SEASON
Early Winter and again in early Summer.

LOCATION
 Found in the Arakan Range of Burma and in Thailand growing on limestone outcrops at elevations of 1,000 - 1,500 m in dapple shade or open sun.

PLANT DESCRIPTION
4 - 5 leaves are narrowly elliptical, 15cm long and 5 cm wide. The upper surface is green mottled with greyish-green and the undersides are reddish - purple.

FLOWER DESCRIPTION
INFLORESCENCE
The peduncle is very short 2 - 4.5cm. Bifloral  inflorescence occur rarely.
DORSAL SEPAL
White to creamy - white sometimes flushed with pink and  fairly uniformly speckled with pinkish to deep purple spots. Concave and  visibly wider than long.
VENTRAL SEPAL
Deeply concave and smaller than the dorsal.
PETALS
Broad and concave, ovate to elliptic, rounded at tip. Same  colouring as the dorsal.
LABELLUM
Egg-shaped, narrowly inflated. White with less spotting than  other segments.

FLOWERING SEASON
Summer and Autumn.

LOCATION
Native to Borneo, Sumatra and Malaysian Penisular. Grows at varying sites from sea level to 1,850m.

 PLANT DESCRIPTION
The plants are small and bear leaves  7 - 15cm in length with distinct tessellations above and purple mottling beneath.

FLOWER DESCRIPTION
INFLORESCENCE
A tall penduncle supports a single flower up to 55 cm.
DORSAL SEPAL
White or very pale green, with dark green stripes. The  dorsal is usually concave. In most flowers a blotch of purple marks the  center of the dorsal.
VENTRAL SEPAL
Is striped with green and lanceolate in shape.
PETALS
Spatulate and held at the horizontal or just below. Green  proximally, the colour graduates to purple towards the apices.
LABELLUM
Green at the toe grading to maroon about the rim, that of the  variat is pale cream at the toe flushed with deepening bronzing to mahogany  towards the rim.

FLOWERING SEASON
Autumn and Winter.

LOCATION
The species has a widespread range in mainland Thailand, Cambodia and Laos. Variety sublaeve is found in northwest Malaya and in peninsular Thailand.

PLANT DESCRIPTION
The leaves are tessellated above and marked to varying degree with purple pigmentation beneath. The dimesions are 10 - 20cm in length and 3.5cm - 5cm in width.

FLOWER DESCRIPTION
INFLORESCENCE
Typically a single flower and bifloral scapes are considered  rare. The peduncle is erect and stands 45cm in height.
DORSAL SEPAL
White flushed purple with veins of unequal length merge  from green to purple as they extend upwards. A band of pink suffusion  underlines the purple veined mid-region of the dorsal sepal.
VENTRAL SEPAL
Narrow cupped projecting forward and striped with  green and purple veining.
PETALS
Reflexed and wide, bent downwards at an acute angle. They are  cream to yellow green proximally, with rosy purple suffusion upon their  distal third. Colour is richer above the mid-vein than below. Maroon  spotting and hairs adorn the  petals margins, The regions below the  mid-vein is striped by green veins.
LABELLUM
Elongate. It is green in colour with mauve or rose overlaying  the green frontally.

FLOWERING SEASON
Winter - Autumn.
