LOCATION
Roots in detritus in bamboo thickets on the forested slopes of Mt Kinabalu ,Borneo at an elevation of 300-1450m.

PLANT DESCRIPTION
Dark green leaves are boldly tessellated with either  yellow green or blush green. Leaf  length is 15-20cm long and 5cm wide.

Solitary flowers on a 25cm inflorescence
DORSAL SEPAL
Ovate and large. White and boldly striped with green margins and ciliate.
VENTRAL SEPAL
Similar and proportionally smaller.
PETALS
Rosy violet in colour, veined with purple and  lacks spotting. Nearly spatulate in shape and held just below horizontal.
LABELLUM
Rich maroon to mohagany, narrow and long. Its infolded side lobes are richly spotted in maroon.

FLOWERING SEASON
Early Summer and mid Winter.

LOCATION
Grows in detritus filled crevices in limestone rock at low elevations of the mountainous regions of North Vietnam and  Yunnan Province,  China.

 PLANT DESCRIPTION
6-7 dark green leaves, tessellated with pale green and dense purple pigment mottles the undersurfaces.

FLOWER DESCRIPTION
INFLORESCENCE
1-2 flowers and stands up to 23cm in height.
DORSAL SEPAL
Ovate and acute. White in colour, flushed with rose pink with a velvet texture.
VENTRAL SEPAL
Smaller replica of the dorsal.
PETALS
Broadly elliptic with round apices. Same colour as the dorsal.
LABELLUM
White and rose pink and lightly stained with lavender.

FLOWERING SEASON
Spring and early Summer.

LOCATION
Terrestrial at 1500 m in poor soil in the extreme southern tip of India.
 
PLANT DESCRIPTION
Large leaves 15- 45 cm in length by 2.5 - 5 cm in width. Purple spotting underneath the leaves.

FLOWER DESCRIPTION
INFLORESCENCE
Solitary flower at a height of up to 25 cm.
DORSAL SEPAL
Yellow or greenish yellow with a striking mid-line stripe of maroon or brownish maroon. It hoods the pouch aperture. Elliptic to ovate in shape. Its margins are ciliate and subundulate.
VENTRAL SEPAL
Greenish yellow and bears a few stripes of brownish maroon. Ovate and smaller than the dorsal.
PETALS
Bears a mid-line strip of maroon which contrasts beautifully with the yellow colour. Held just below horizontal and their spatlulate apices frequently twist upwards assuming a supinate position. Petals margins are undulate and reflexed. Purple hairs occur down the petals in proximate portions.
LABELLUM
Yellow or tawny and spotted on the inside with reddish purple. Helmet shaped.

FLOWERING SEASON
Late Winter and early Spring.
