LOCATION
Found on rocky cliffs over gorges at 600m in
central Kalimantan in Borneo.
PLANT DESCRIPTION
8-10 plain dark green leaves measuring 40-60
cm in length and 6-8 cm in width.
FLOWER DESCRIPTION
INFLORESCENCE
6-14 simultaneous flowers on an inflorescence
of 40-70cm.
DORSAL SEPAL
Cream with narrow veins of maroon. Ovate and
acute in shape.
VENTRAL SEPAL
Similar although smaller and bicarinate
PETALS
Ivory to green, slightly veined with maroon.
Pendulous, long and narrow and lacks ciliar fringing, spots and warts.
Distal portions exhibit some twisting.
LABELLUM
Tawny to ochre with darker veins. Pointed at
the apex.
Var topperi is primarily ivory white, striped
with green and green flushed upon the pouch. Well grown plants may have
20 flowers per spike.
