LOCATION
Grows in crevices on calcareous outcrops where it is rooted into detritus at elevations of 0 - 200 m off the west coast of the Malaya peninsula and west of Borneo.

PLANT DESCRIPTION
4-6 leaves, 10-20 cm in length and 2.5-3.8 cm in width. Upper surface is dark green, mottled with greyish green. Underneath is deeply pigmented with purple.

FLOWER DESCRIPTION
INFLORESCENCE
1-2 flowers at a height of 5 to 25 cm.
DORSAL SEPAL
Almost circular, white with very fine purple spotting basally.
VENTRAL SEPAL
Narrower and similar colour to the dorsal.
PETALS
The long petals overlap the sepals and are held in a nearly horizontal position. Similar colour to the dorsal.
LABELLUM
Small and ellipsoidal with involute margins about the orifice. White with minute purple spots.

FLOWERING SEASON
Early to mid Summer
Var album has pure white flowers with a central yellow spot on the staminode.
