"...a mentorship is invaluable for an aspiring writer and a great confidence booster..."
     - Associate Professor Glen Phillips (ECU)

Writing can be a very solitary experience and writers often feel isolated. The mentorship scheme offers real support from professionals to sustain emerging writers and gives them someone on an ongoing basis to help work through the problems and difficulties associated with publishing a manuscript for the first time!

Professional WA writers are invited to mentor an emerging writer who has a completed or almost completed manuscript (prose or poetry). The mentor works for a period of 6 months one on one with the emerging writer to develop their manuscript and give them advice and encouragement with their novel or poetry. The mentor facilitates the development of the writer rather than acting as an editor or agent.

This fantastic opportunity for both mentors and mentees is funded by the State Government through the Australia Council.

Note: The 2005 Mentorship program is now closed for applications.

Any published authors or emerging writers interested in the Mentorship Scheme for 2006 should contact the FAWWA
