Gridwalk fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) grating have been engineered not only for strength, but also to overcome corrosion problems found in chemical, pulp and paper, electronic, food,
beverage, aircraft, automotive, plating, textile, and other
industries where corrosive products are used. These are areas
where metal grating rapidly deteriorates or creates a constant
maintenance problem.
The advanced resin & glass systems and manufacturing techniques
employed in the production of Gridwalk fiberglass grating makes it
ideal for use in the following locations:
- Flooring
- Pit covers
- Stairs
- Bridges
- Wash racks
- Trench covers
- Platforms
- Tower packing supports
- Battery racks
- Machinery guards
- Grills
- Ramps
- Walkways
- Screens
Inherent benefits and characteristics of Gridwalk fiberglass grating make it the product of choice for many industrial applications:
CORROSION RESISTANCE of Gridwalk grating over a wide PH range - both acidic and caustic - is achieved by the use of premium grade resin systems. Whether the grating is exposed to continuous submersion,
splash, spills, fumes and gases, you can be assured that Gridwalk FRP
grating will outperform metallic grating.
FIRE RESISTANT with a class 1 flame spread rating of 25 or less,
Gridwalk grating has been tested in accordance with the ASTM E-84
Tunnel Test Method.
NON-SPARKING Gridwalk grating is ideally suited for those
installations where hydrogen or other combustible gases may be
present and which may explode or cause a fire from sparks produced by
accidental dropping of tools onto the grating.
NON-CONDUCTIVE properties make Gridwalk grating ideally suited for
work platforms, flooring and fencing in electrically hazardous
locations. These properties greatly reduce the risk of electrical
shock for workers in bus areas and around switch gear by allowing the
grating to act as an insulator.
NON-MAGNETIC properties allow Gridwalk grating to be used in
sensitive installations where the inherent magnetic properties of
metallic grating would prove unfavorable.
LOW-THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY makes Gridwalk grating an excellent
insulator and safeguard against inadvertent skin-contact with extreme
temperature surfaces.
IMPACT-RESISTANCE of Gridwalk grating allows repeated deflections of
the grating without being permanently deformed. Substantial
deflection will occur with impact of heavy objects. However, once the
object is removed, Gridwalk grating will fully recover its original
position - unlike metal grating which will remain deformed and
require replacement.
The SLIP RESISTANCE feature of Gridwalk grating is created during the
molding process by the formation of a concave cross-section on the
walking surface of each bar. The (2) knife-edges produced by this
process provide positive traction over a wide range of environmental
conditions. (A grit surface is also available.)
MAINTENANCE FREEDOM from painting and/or coating of Gridwalk grating
is achieved, not only by the inherent corrosion /rust resistance, but
also by the molded-in color and ultra violet resistance.
LIGHT-WEIGHT Gridwalk reduces installation and fabrication costs.
Full panels can be easily handled by two men without the need of
hoists, pulley or dollies. Fabrication or cutting of Gridwalk grating
is easily achieved by using either a carbide hack-saw, saber-saw, or
jig-saw blade or a circular saw equipped with a masonry type cut-off
blade. No cumbersome cutting or welding torches are needed. Cut edges
of the grating are sealed with a catalyzed resin to prevent wicking
of the fiberglass. Attachment of the grating to the supporting frame
work is accomplished using the appropriate hardware discussed below.
Selection of Gridwalk assures you of a grating that not only has a quality appearance, but is also strong - providing you with a longer
service life over materials like steel, aluminum or wood. this
equates to the best value with a longer service life and lower
overall costs.
GRATING DESCRIPTION
- One stock panel size: 4ft x 12ft (1200mm x 3050mm)
- Full panel weight: 180 lbs (82 kg) or 3.75 lb/ft2 (18.3 kg/m2)
- Integral, one-piece molded construction distributes load evenly to
bi-directional bearing bars
- Two mesh patterns: 1-1/2" x 1-1/2" (38 x 38mm), 70% open area, 1/4"
(6.4mm) thick load bearing bars in both directions, and 2" x 2" (50 x 50mm), 72% open area, 1/4" (6.4mm) thick load bearing bars in both directions
- Three thicknesses available: 2" (50mm), 1-1/2" (38mm) and 1" (25mm)
- Plain or grit surface
- Two resin system: Type 'V' (dark grey) uses vinyl ester resin base to
provide excellent corrosion resistance over a broad PH range, with a
class 1 flame spread rating of 25 or less. Type 'I' (green or light
grey) uses an isophtalic resin base to provide superior acid
resistance while providing moderate resistance to caustic and solvent
environments, with a class 1 flame spread rating of 25 or less.
Optional colors on request.

Panel Installation
Ideally Gridwalk panels should be supported on all sides and attached
to the supporting frame work with either type 'M' or... |
 |
...type 'L' hold-down clips. A minimum of four (4) clips per side are required
for full-size panels. |
 |
Where panels cannot be supported on all sides, use type 'C' end panel
clips to unite the two (2) adjacent panels.
Clips are sold as sets consisting of clip, bolt, nut and washer, all
manufactured from 316 stainless steel. |
