What a great turnout for the Pink Ribbon
Ride this year. The weather was perfect - after last year anything
would be an improvement. Anyone on last year's ride will definitely
remember that wet soggy day. But thankfully Sunday 19th was a beautiful
day for a ride.
We had 60 bikes and over 72 people assemble at the carpark all happy
to be gathering for a great cause and happy for an excuse for a ride.
We were joined by a couple from Tambellup who had seen our ride
advertised, two European travellers staying at the motel and
riding around Australia on a bike and someone just riding past and
wanting to join in which was great. It may have been the pink bras that
were in full view that drew his attention!

After entries were paid and some generous donations received we
headed to Kamballup Hall where Yvonne, Marilyn, Betty, Jan and Chris
had set out a sumptuous morning tea provided by some of our club
members.
When everyone was ready we headed towards Mt Barker, left turn to
Kendenup and then out to Albany Highway to Gilberts Winery.
We were a little early which put Bev into a panic but everyone was
very happy to sit around in the sun under the trees outside and just
kick back with a glass of wine. Lunch was a choice of 2 soups with
crusty bread or a pickers platter, all very nice.
The raffle was drawn and prizes donated from our Club, Albany
Motorcycles, Great Southern Motorcycles, Lush Nursery, Reeves, Wombat
Lodge and Caltex Service Station were happily received by the lucky
winners. Satin n Lace made a donation of $25 towards the ride.
The remainder of the afternoon was
spent talking, eating and
sampling some of Gilberts’ fine wine. It was a great day and a big
thank you to everyone for supporting the ride and helping us to raise
$1040.00 for breast cancer research.
