After one of Perth’s wildest, wettest Saturdays on record, I
wasn’t very hopeful about Sundays weather, or anyone turning up
for the ride, but when I looked out the window Sunday morning
all I could see was clear blue sky in all directions “Yay” ( I
believe my Old Man had a word to the right person up there, as
his kids where taking his favourite bikes out for the day).
I was still a little nervous as I approached the starting
point, but that soon disappeared as I saw Bully taking bikes off
his trailer. Within half an hour we had 21 starters and a great
variety of bikes.

The ride went smoothly with Ann and myself leaving first on the
oldest bikes and five minuets later Stuart lead the rest of the
group with Ross as Tail End Charlie, then Lee with the car and
trailer just in case.

We couldn’t have had a better ride (although chilly) through the
green rolling hills of the Chittering Valley with all the creeks
flowing and the citrus trees full of oranges and mandarins, the
different smells as we rode past where wonderful.
Ann’s BSA was a little unhappy when she arrived at the pie
shop, so after some debate about pie fillings and coffee, it was
decided to put it on the trailer for the trip home, about half
of the riders went their own way on leaving Bindoon.

The rest of us rode back thru the same scenic route, with only
one incident at a gravely corner were we I had stopped to let
Bully have a ride a “Real Old Bike”. It seems Howard’s GS1150
BMW is more at home on the dirt than the black top and had a
little lay down in the gravel as he was turning around - a bit
like a horse having a dust bath I suppose. But before any one
could get a camera out it was up righted again. I think he had a
red face, but who could tell with his helmet on. We then
proceeded to the Chequers Hotel for a ride debriefing before
heading home. It was so enjoyable. Let's do it again next year.
Thanks again to all riders and helpers.
