For some years Susan Miles has integrated science lessons in her grade 4/5 classes with other areas of the curriculum. A Multiple Intelligence approach is used and special links have been made with Kanyana Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre.

Kanyana is run by Lloyd and June Butcher and has taken part in very successful captive breeding programs; in particular of red-tailed phascogales and bilbies. They also care for up to 1000 admissions of injured wildlife per year with a 60% rehabilitation success.
