TERRIBLY BRITISH DAY AND

OUR ANNUAL DISPLAY DAY

Text Box: Our Club’s annual Display Day, incorporating the Club Concours, is to be held in conjunction with the ‘Terribly British Day’ on Sunday 2nd December 2007.  ‘Terribly British Day’ is the special display day for the all the UK marques, so there will be many other cars apart from MGs on display.  We won the trophy for Best Club Display in 2005, surrendered it to the Jaguar Drivers Club in 06 and we are keen win it back again with your help.

Text Box:  The venue is the lawns in front of Old Parliament House with entry via the rear of Questacon.  Just look for the Club flag. Some catering will be available, and you can also BYO a picnic. Our display day is about pride of ownership and there isn’t a better spot in Canberra for a picnic and chat with friends under a shady tree.  You don’t have to enter the Concours to park your car in the display; it’s your choice and there’s no pressure.  If you do want to enter the Concours there are two perpetual trophies awarded on the day:  one for the best presented car on display and the other for ‘People’s Choice’ – the car selected by those members who attend simply because they think it should win the ‘People’s Choice’.

There will be four concours classes determined by the age of the vehicle.  The classes are:

 ·       Pre 1955 Class (any MG built before 1955)

·       1955-1967 Class (includes the MGA, Mk 1 MGB and GT, Mk1&2 Midget, Z Magnette)

·       1967-1980 Class (includes the Mk2 and later MGB and BGT’s,  BGTV8,  Mk3 Midget,  MG1100)

·       After 1980 Class (includes RV8, F, TF, new saloons and any highly modified specials)

Text Box: Those who know our marque will see that some licence has been taken with some of the groupings (eg Z Magnettes were built as early as 1953).  What the grouping does achieve is to successfully split the MGBs and Midgets into two different classes, which makes for some real concours competition.

So please join us on the 2nd of December whether you are coming to ‘Terribly British Day’, to the Club pride of ownership display, to the club Concours or just for a picnic in the park with friends.  If you wish to enter your car in the Concours please be there by 9.30am because judging starts at 10.00am sharp with the announcement of results and presentation of awards at 12.00pm.
