Jane Taubman (nee Mullins) - Jane is researching the family of George MULLINS (????-1833) and his son Charles MULLINS (1825-1856) from Yeovil & Evershot, Dorset. [Jane's website] I have not been able to prove a connection between our two Dorset-based Mullins families at this stage.
Penny Russell - Penny is my fourth cousin and lives in Bournemoth, Dorset. She is descended from Nathaniel Mullins, a brother of my Tasmanian convict, gg-gf John Mullins. Nathaniel was also born in Newfoundland, like my gg-gf.
Ann Garner's website - Ann has a very interesting page on the Mullins surname in Virginia, USA. It has with many useful links and well-documented sources.
Cornelius Carroll's website - This website details the descendants of Thomas Mullins b. ca 1714 Gravesend, County Kent, England md Anne (maiden name unknown). He emigrated to America at age 19 as an indentured blacksmith for a period of four years to Peter Simpson of London or his assignees to serve in South Carolina "his Majesties plantation in America." It is believed that he may be the son of Edward Mullins and Margaret Manley who md 16 March 1709 at Maidenstone, County Kent, England, but so far it has not been proven.
Mullins Surname DNA Project - This group of Mullins researchers have set up a surname project group at the Family Tree DNA website. There are about 20-25 members of the group. They are currently focusing on establishing their interconnections between early American emigrants with the Mullins surname, using the burgeoning Y-DNA testing regime. The Y-chromosome is passed down from biological father to biological son and in our Western society this lineage uses a constant surname, or family name; therefore the testing of certain key 'markers' along the Y-Chromosome chain can prove or disprove a connection between two male persons sharing the same surname. I am, at present, the only non-USA member of the group to have had my DNA tested and I am anxiously awaiting some other male Mullins-surnamed researcher to have their own DNA tested and be a close match to mine. To get a bit technical, I have been estimated as a haplogroup E3b, whereas most the other members of the project are the more common R1b1 and I1b haplogroups.
