Section Leader: A Section Leader is responsible to the Local and Deputy Managers for the management of a particular functional area of the Unit: e.g. Rescue, Operations, Communications or Administration.

The section leader primary role is to lead, direct and ensure the safety of all the team members at all times

The section leader makes certain that all personnel in the section are adequately trained and equipped for their role(s), assisting in the development and implementing of the training program for the section in conjunction with the Training Manager. And team leaders.

A section leader should have attained qualifications:

  • As a team member, and a team leader in at least one of the Section's tasks,
  • Have had operational experience with the activity.

  • It is desirable to be qualified as an Instructor in at least one of the Section's tasks.
  • A section leader should also possess organisational, leadership planning and communication qualities.
